I grew up in White Rock, a nice little town (well it was nice 20 years ago) by the beach about an hour outside of Vancouver on the BC/Washington border. I moved to Vancouver after high school and I lived there for over a decade, as well as some short stints in other places, before I moved to Montreal. So why come to Montreal from the West Coast? I get asked that a lot. My mother's side of the family has always lived around here, when she was a kid they had Sunday picnics at the Plaines d'Abraham. So it seemed like a natural choice. And I love contemporary dance theater (Dumb Type, DV8), experimental music and punk rock. There's a lot of that kind of stuff going on in Montreal. I like to make art whenever possible (I have a BFA in Dance from SFU School for the Contemporary Arts) and I also design and host websites with Jean-Yves Thériault. We have a company called Vkool. Right now I am taking full time French classes because I am tired of speaking pigeon French. Me talk pretty one day. I'm also working on some art projects with Jean-Yves and my friends Sally Rees & Matt Warren who live in Australia. We have a collective called D Group. We spent last August building a performance installation called BUG in the Czech Republic at CESTA, an artist's center. We built a huge plastic box and made noise with guitars and spat fake sperm. Sally stapled me to the floor under a big sheet of plastic. I wish I could do art like that every day.
