Audio Tag
Concept; This project is a simple game of tag (or even dominos), one member starts with an audio recording of around 2 - 3 minutes, then passes this to the next person in the chain, this person will have to match the end sound of the previous recording to the beginning sound of theirs. then this gets passed to the next member in the chain and so on. The general idea being is that once the recordings are played together it should sound as a continuous event. The transition doesn't have to be of the same recorded subject but has to be of a matching sound; i.e. in texture and timbre. In other words; just because the person before you has rain at the end track , you don't have to have rain at the start of yours, it could be the crackle of static from a fire. this opens up the creative element to the recording process and tallow you to work with various recording techniques and fool the ears. If your interested in taking part then please leave a comment below specifying which project and you will be added to the chain.
Rules; The recording can only be between 2-3 minutes, the recording must start of with a matching sound from the previous recording but then is free to go in its own direction, all recordings must be a pure field recording ie in its raw state. Also each recording has to have a 15sec fade in and fade out to allow for a smooth transition between tracks.
Chain; Matt Davies - Marcus Kuerten - Mimosa|Moize - Sascha Nuedeck - Derren Poole - Phill Harding
Status; Awaiting recording from Matt Davies.
Chinese Whispers
Concept; The concept of 'Chinese Whispers' is about the iteration of information.
This project starts off with a field recording composition, then each following member in the chain can manipulate the previous recording/recordings using the stated rules. Each members alteration will progress from the previous, but altering only slightly, becoming one part of the overall composition. 'Chinese Whispers' in its entirety, will be a continuous sequence of compositions, in which each members adjacent input are only mildly perceptibly different from each other, although the extremes are quite distinct. Chinese Whispers will be compiled and presented as one evolving piece and not a collection of tracks that start and stop every few minutes. If your interested in taking part then please leave a comment below specifying which project, and you will be added to the chain.
Rules; Each members contribution should be between 2-3 minutes in length. Each members alteration should deviate only slightly from the previous members, and be considered more as an important role in the overall development of the piece. Any method of alteration, and introduction or subtracting of sounds is allowed but always trying to be slight. All emphasis should be on field recordings although not consist entirely of field recordings. Each participants input should be minimal, but essential.
Chain; Mimosa|Moize - Anton Mobin - Vehscle -
Status; Vehscle recording is now READY, again a very high quality piece, and now awaiting next chain member.
Status; Anton Mobin recording is now READY, setting a high standard, and now awaiting next chain member.
Status; Anton Mobin joined and is currently working on recording.
Status; Mimosa|Moize recording is now READY and now awaiting next chain member.

Luís Antero | Field Recordings, Jan 29, 2009:
hi, good people of field recording projects.
congratulations for your ideas.
i want to be part of Audio Tag.
it is possible?
thanks!
mimosa|moize, Aug 4, 2008:
We worked on compiling a collection of sounds into one piece recently, and although fades worked in most cases, if not all, they did vary in time quite considerably.
Probably best to work out the fades once the project is done. Although we will definitely have to consider some time period at each end of the recording to make any transition smooth.
Matt Davies, Aug 3, 2008:
it was an after thought as to how to blend the recordings together, ie the 15secs ends overlay each other, but maybe its best to cross fade when they all get assembled.
Field Recording Projects, Aug 3, 2008:
A game of AUDIO TAG anyone? (please reply with your name to this comment, to be added to the chain)
