The idea to start a project like File Not Found arised in the year 1997. First of all Daniel and Martin used to exchange demo tapes of their first musical experiments at their favourite club 'Melodrom'. After a short time they realized being on the same musical wavelength and finally they decided to record a few songs together.
Both guys had enough equipment and noise-making electronic toys to start some very funny home recording sessions in Daniel's living room 'Chaos Room'. Special sound experiments and strange electronic noises were recorded at Martin's home studio to be added to the songs.
Their first recorded songs were rather minimal (from these songs their side project 'we.' has emerged). By-and-by they developed their own musical style, which characterizes the typical File-Not-Found-sound till now: melodic electro-sound, suitable for the dancefloor, with an 80's and minimal-electro touch and a rough-edges-charm based on home recording.
First prosperities came soon: many people dancing to their music at several clubs as well as compilations featuring FNF-songs. Especially '67840 - You've got my number' provides crowded dancefloors till now. You can find this song on the tracklist of the File Not Found debut album 'Malfunction' released in 2001 and produced completely on their own.
The second longplayer 'Division By Zero' has been released on the Berlin record label 'Etoile Records' in 2005.
In November 2004 File Not Found had their first live experience as support of the Belgian industrial act 'Dive' at the Kantine/Augsburg (Germany).
