What's up with FLAMINGO CRASH?
A few years ago a band was formed "...with one foot entrenched in the past (Wire, XTC, Talking Heads, The Ex) and another in some ethereal neverland." (Rave Magazine)
The band was noisy and quiet, liked sharp angles and soft shapes, played vintage instruments and brand new ones, liked enchanting rhymes and forbidden tales, loud drums and invisible sounds and most of all making music with everything they had until forever.
After releasing the Shoot the Lights Out 7" on limited edition green vinyl, the band recorded their debut album TRIANGLE ISLAND produced in Australia by Magoo (Midnight Oil, Regurgitator, Gerling) and mastered by Steve Fallone (The Strokes, Sonic Youth, TV on the Radio) in NYC.
Recent overseas and Australian tours have further established Flamingos live gatherings of tribal beats, tight space pop and frantic rock'n'roll, alongside sharing stages with some including The Go! Team, Lily Allen, The Bravery, Love is All, The Presets & You Am I.
Flamingo have sparked whispers on the street, played in your city, danced through your airwaves, and recorded an album that is as much about celebration as it is imagination.

Toys / Shoot The Lights Out 7"
"Dancing sober makes me nervous. However, this double a-side made me want to dance. It makes me want to dance like a fool. 'Shoot the Lights Out' especially has been an absolute pleasure to listen to repeatedly. It puts out some truly infectious chorus lyrics that will have you humming for the rest of your life.
My main point of appreciation for Flamingo Crash is that you can only sense their influences. They don't wear what they love and came from like a heart on their sleeves. The music is somehow ingeniously original, but not in a way that it disturbs the ear and seems alien. I am seriously eagerly awaiting an album - the EP and the singles just haven't been enough. If you're like me and can't hold your insides in waiting for an album, get off your patoote and get out and see these guys live. I can assure you that the Flamingo Crash experience is effervescent and jovial...If you like music, I'd bet you'll like this." (The Dwarf)

"... these skinny moppets have married a modish Pop Art vibe to pseudo revolutionary Dadaist twaddle as a base for arrestingly frisky synth-rock. A lot of other bands would claim to be as influenced by Fugazi and Refused as they are by Talking Heads and XTC, but Flamingo Crash show it. Their desperate, panting pop gems bait and switch and flail with joy. In this fashionable genre some bands play nonchalant, but Flamingo Crash throw themselves in head first." (CitySearch)

"Brisbane is the home of Flamingo Crash, the latest band to join the ranks of fellow Australian natives The Grates, Wolfmother, You Am I, and Wolf & Cub in gaining a steady following overseas. The thing that separates Flamingo Crash from most of the rest is their eye-catching diversity. Instead of sticking with a formulaic approach of sticking in a catchy chorus after every other verse, the five-piece mixes it up with appropriate measures, providing a fresh and engaging sound." (Obscure Sounds)

"Acknowledge the magnitude of what we are dealing with here - this very band is the best this town has seen in years. There is a passion and integrity here that can never be learned, but only earned, and I only hope that more bands remember what the whole point of this thing was in the first place. Don't trust my judgement alone, check them out for yourself" (Rave Magazine)
