JC Report's founder and editor-in-chief is Jason Campbell. Campbell cut his teeth working on the PR team responsible for Alexander McQueen and Antonio Berardi's American launch, worked as a model agent in New York and London, and is the co-founder of netsetgoods.com, the first online concept store. Whether writing about trends for Fashion Internet magazine, the first online fashion magazine or running his own boutique marketing agency catering to clients including Limited Brands, Piazza Sempione, Grab bags, and the NFL, Campbell has always been at the forefront of new trends, writing and documenting them well before mainstream acceptance. After two years writing Magiconline's Trendcast column, he realized there was a need to deliver this information swiftly to style influencers and tastemakers, and JC Report was born. Campbell is also a contributing writer to *Surface, WestEast, Sportswear International, Rodeo, and Blue Mode magazines. Like a well-read friend's picks, each issue is compiled by editors and contributing reviewers who suggest only works that they have read and would personally recommend. We never accept money from publishers, writers, or marketers to review any of their books.
Every issue is centered around a theme, a launching point from which to list a selection of books across a variety of genres -- from literary fiction to historical nonfiction, from poetry and short stories to coffee table books on art and architecture. In addition to featuring current titles, Boldtype also regularly reviews great books from years past.
Re-launched in November 2003, Boldtype was originally founded by Larry Weissman, who created it in 1997 at Random House as one of the web's first literary magazines. Though we're no longer affiliated with Random House, Weissman continues to be an Editor-at-Large at the publication.
