I spent most of today rebuilding my phone. What a pain. It somehow got corrupted and nothing would work, and somehow my backups got corrupted too. I ended up wiping the whole thing and starting fresh. Annoying, but its turning out ok. The wipe cleaned out all the crap files left over from trying new applications. I’m still working on it, but hey…at least its working.

Ok, next topic: Baby. Yeah, thats right, I said baby. Number two will be due in August and momma, number 1, and I couldn’t be happier. They’ll be 5 yrs apart when the new one gets here, but number 1 is excited enough that I don’t think it will matter.

And finally…last topic in this quick post: This years hiking trip. This year we’ll be climbing Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, the two tallest peaks in Colorado, both of them over 14,000 ft. We’ll be spending about a week in the CO wilderness, and will hit them about a day apart. It’ll be fun, but I’m having to start training now.

I’m sitting on the couch, staring out the window at the approaching grey, thinking about going to get a coffee. I know there is some here, but there’s just something to be said about getting out there, even if I’m unfamiliar with the area. I’m hoping that the coffee will stimulate my mind a little, as I have a little computer “problem” I’ve been working on, and its driving me nuts. For the sake of my sanity I’m going to explain what I’m trying to do to the web (via here) and it will probably make for boring reading. So, you’ve been warned. You can skip this part if you like.

So I’ve been a Yahoo! Mail user for like, well…forever. I still have the same account I started with like 10 years ago (wow…just realized that) and I’m not up for sending out one of those “Hey everyone, this is my new address” emails, mostly because I like the Yahoo! Mail interface soooooo much more than I like Google’s. But Google has free IMAP, and here my problem lies. I want to use Yahoo! with IMAP. They have an IMAP server, but they keep it secret. Only mobile users can access it, which I do frequently on my phone, but I wish to do this on my laptop too via a email client and not just on the web. I need to figure out a way to trick Yahoo! into thinking I’m accessing my email through my phones data connection (basicly connect to their WAP server) without actually plugging my phone into my computer. I may give up soon.

The second one I actually feel sorry for. 122 recorded personalities, of which I swear we went through six. One of them decided it was a good idea to swallow a bunch of pills and wash it down with some mouth wash (minty fresh!), another tried to touch my *special place*, and still another just yelled at me. All through the abuse (she did swing at me a few times too) I stood there feeling truely sorry for her. I couldn't help being reminded of Legion.

Just a couple of examples of the good and bad of this job. Some of the things you get to/have to see.

I'm up, and I'm ok with that. I've been really tired lately, wanting to go to bed at like 6 pm, and I indulged that want for a couple of weeks. It really screwed me up. I was exhausted from all that...sleep. I know it seems weird, but its the truth. I'm so used to getting just a few hours of sleep that my body didn't know what to do. I think it thought I was hibernating.

Me: Stop it. I'm not a bear.
Body: But your hairy...
Me: So!? I'm a mammal!
Body: Bears are mammals too...
Me: There's no reasoning with you.....*sigh*

So now, as you can see, I'm still up.

At work today we tested 76 fire hydrants. We drive around and make sure they open and close, then check their pressure. Its normally not a big deal, but to day we did more than we normally do, and we did it in the rain. Oh did I mention it was cold? It was cold, wet, rain. I was still in a good mood though. I think it was from my lack of sleep.

Ok...well the post has come full circle. (Ok...it was a small circle. Like the button to turn your computer on. Body: Sleep... Me: Shut up!) I signed up for a new social networking type thing called Utterz. You lucky few will soon be able to hear my voice on this blog. Utterz allow you to call in a voice blog, or send in pics/vids and works with various other networks or services. Lucky for me it plugs into Blogger (which plugs into Virb, and then there’s Twitter, and Tumblr) so it helps in my quest to make everything work with everything. Not that I have anything interesting to say, but I may just ramble anyway.

The next few weeks will be pretty busy, but with this new service I may be able to keep up with things.

We are all sitting around my grandmothers house on our computers. The day was going fine until my dad got sucked into trying to set up the wifi connection. I say got sucked into.....he started and got in too deep. He couldn't stop. We wouldn't let him. Now conversation has come to all but a halt. Two factions have emerged: Those who are online, and those who refuse to be. The ones not on their computers are talking amongst themselves, while those who have a laptop (or other device) out are IM'ing snide remarks about the others to each other. It got pretty hot for a while....

All in all, its gone pretty well. The average family gathering, you might say. There's really only about half of us here (my brother (Andy) is not here, he is out on the ambulance working on his paramedic rotations) and you still have to yell to have your comments heard above the din. Its good though....its always good. You always kinda start out the day like "uhhgg..wow..we're really gonna spend all day there?" and finish up with "I can't think of anything else I'd have rather done today."

Ok, gotta go. We’re making mashed taters for the family later on. Happy Thanksgiving all!
