I have always loved children's literature. It is one of the reasons I became a librarian. But children's lit has taken on a new meaning for me since becoming a mom. It is fascinating for me to see my son react to books. Sure he likes to do cute things to them - chew on board books and pat the pages, but I also see him recognize passages in books. For me, this is amazing. His favorite right now is Time for Bed and when he hears the first sentence, he will smile and listen to me with full attention. Seeing this connection with books and his real enjoyment is magic.
