My mom drives me to work in the morning some days because we both work downtown. And before you start asking questions, YES. I STILL LIVE WITH MY PARENTS. I've been out of college for a year and they insisted I save up and not get myself into debt, so there. I'm being frugal and cheap and they're not charging me rent (yet). But we leave the parking garage at Millennium Park and walk the three blocks to Monroe and Dearborn. There, we give each other a kiss on the cheek and go our separate ways.
I was never weird about displaying affection with my parents, either one of them. When they dropped me off in the mornings in high school or back at the dorm on Sunday night after spending the weekend at home, there was always a hug and a kiss involved. Didn't matter if my friends were around or if my boyfriend was nearby. But that's the way my family is, I guess. Grandma, uncles, aunts, cousins... we're all very affectionate. Even my big, burly Navy/Chicago Police officer of a cousin loves to hug and give kisses (his brand new daughter getting the most of those now :D) . So my mom and I get funny looks every morning, and occasionally, we've gotten a few "awws" here and there, but I love my mom. Remember that now and that I stated it in the very beginning of my blog. I might have to go back and check to see if I've stated it as weeks go on and she drives me nuts.
