About
Fresh Air - The Alternative is a non-profit making, independant radio station based in the city of Edinburgh, dedicated to promoting the best in alternative music - whatever the genre. We broadcast from our website www.freshair.org.uk and through iTunes under alternative, eclectic and rock. You can hear live programmes from our huge variety of presenters every day and when we're not live, you can listen to our top-notch playlist!
We do this for the love of it and allow our presenters and producers full control of their playlist's. As a result there is a lot going on at Fresh Air from indie, electro to hiphop and folk. And our activities are ceaseless from live sessions from the latest up and coming indie band to interviews with the next Fabric DJ, games shows to topical debate, we even had our own soap for a while!
Throughout the year we also run a range of events - gigs, club nights and fundraisers that are open to everyone. For example we recently ran an intimate gig featuring Frightened Rabbit as our headliners as part of a series of gigs known as Fresh Air Live. Our next instalment features the great bands FOUND, Down the Tiny Steps and Roy's Iron DNA on 28th Feb at Cabaret Voltaire, Ed.
We also run a 50s & 60s Rock 'n' Roll night called Twist and Shout at Medina, Ed which has become hugely popular with the student crowd and run an annual large club night Indie Club Together which brings some of Edinburgh's biggest and brightest indie DJs together under one roof.

We have a fluid music policy at Fresh Air, it's all about the best tunes of all genres. We allow our presenters to determine their playlist with a helpful had from our music team and in house playlist.
