The Grand Canal, Venice, Italy.
Going to Venice is like taking a trip back in time. If you take away the tourists and the hordes of people that flock to this city every day, its quite fascinating to see the city on the water that has largely remained unchanged for centuries. The architecture is the gothic/Medieval that is best seen in the cold / dark days of winter, which is why I decided to visit Venice in November. I kept wondering how the locals live in the city as this way of life without cars, public transportation and the things we take for granted are not present in Venice. Also: the city seemed, to me at least, to be more french than Italian. I dont know why I got this feeling whilst I was there - but there's something very french about Venice.
This is my version of the cliche Down-the-Grand-Canal Venice shot. This is the main highway of Venice that goes through the entire city. In the foreground you see Santa Maria de Salute, the largest cathedral in Venice. The dark arches of a bridge on the top left and right edges of this shot keep this shot from being perfect I think but hey its just my photoblog, not my portfolio. I can post less-than-perfect shots here.

I photographed this huge original Banksy mural in the East Village (New York City) way back in November of last year. The reason it took me so long to post it is that I wish I had a better shot of this (the current shot is too closely cropped). So it sat in HD for a year and Im finally posting cuz I absolutely love this mural. Since I have quite a collection of Banksy shots I just wanted to add to it here in my photoblog. This is one of my favorite Banksy pieces ever! Too bad it was washed over and removed a few days after I took this picture.

Japan's Primary Colours. Green Yellow Orange White. These are the colors you're most likely to see in shrines and temples across the country. The orange/red is also unlike any Ive seen before. Its truely unique to the country, as you can see from my photo essay on the Fushimi Inari Shrine from a few weeks ago.
Oh and I recently made it to the Nominees in the PhotoBlog Awards... If you vote for me I'll send you a cup cake! A huge thank you if you already have!

5 years ago I signed up a small photoblogging site called Photoblogs.org and thus friskyPics was born. Its been a great journey of personal fulfillment and discovery and Ive met some amazing and talented people along the way. I started this photoblog without any plans or Big Ideas - just a way to throw my pictures out there for all to see, and to see the logical progression and (hopefully) improvement in my work as a photographer. Ive tried to branch out I dont have a set "genre" of my photography. I wouldnt have it any other way. I want to continue to do all sorts of different styles and push myself to go beyond my comfort zone....
Id like to thank each and every one of you for visiting, viewing, and commenting on my work over the years. You guys rock! Keep posting all the awesome photos that inspire me each and every day.

Kinkaku-ji [金閣寺]. Or the Golden Temple. Kyoto, Japan. This photo doesnt do it any justice. The temple is covered in gold-plated leaf and shines in the afternoon sun. Its breathtaking to look at and photograph.
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment. I've been photoBlogging ever since "photoBlogs" started back in 2003. If you like what you see, may I suggest that you please vote for me? Thank you!
