Steve lee has been a long-running and somewhat unique DJ for the last 20 years. His DJ sets and mixtapes push the DJ boundaries further than ever before with his blend of seamless multiple track mixing combined with his own unique edits/remixes.
I first met a very young steve lee back in 96' when we were djing at Miss Moneypenny's - And even then it was clear that this nervous youngster, who was warming up the dancefloor for me, had something special. He's from the old-skool. He's an accomplished turntablist. A skratch dj who can cut, juggle & transform along with the best. And twenty years later he's become what I consider to be a rare DJ talent who excites his listeners whatever genre and style he chooses to play.
Steve comes across quite humble about his DJ talents, despite having an excitable passion for club music. Over the years he has played with the best and will always bring back wonderful memories flooding back with his ever-changing playlist. He's wonderfully knowledgeable about his craft, music selection combined with a huge passion for electronic music.
I remember first hearing Steve play in Manchester and being blown away by his smooth, seductive and intelligent musical journey. I can't think of many DJ's apart from the innovators who have made me sit back and enjoy the music I play myself. It's a real pleasure to know that he is still as passionate as ever about club music and happy to know he is still very much active and on the scene.
Steve, now back in his hometown of London runs his own small night - KOLLEKTIV. He considers it to be a home to his more vintage record box, where he plays forgotten gems and new music from across the globe. He still continues to guest across the UK and this is where you'll hear Mr Lee's comfort zone. His primary focus will always be towards electronic-driven music. Whether it's dubby house to cosmic disco, leftfield to that minimal-tech-house sound. Be prepared to journey through an electronic music maze coupled with his own unique edits/remixes of forgotten classics to guide you along the way.
I always look forward to hearing Steve play whether it's a new mix dropping in my inbox or live in a club - If you haven't, then what are you waiting for? (2007)
