Ocarina Records is proud to present This Gaunt Story, the debut album from Gaunt Story. The 11-song release is a touching collection of uplifting songs, blending pop, folk and alternative indie sounds, telling a story of life, loss and growing up. A blend of twee melodies, combined with truly original beats to create a unique album. Sometimes simple, sometimes complex, the orchestration and instrumentation come together in cohesive musical movements, each part working in harmony, blending together to form soul-warming narrative music. It is this combination of themes, and feelings, interwoven with music mirroring the tone that gives meaning to the whole album, a snapshot of life, crystallised in time. Timeless and ageless, This Gaunt Story is an emotional journey, both for the story-teller and the listener. In discovering a new album, in listening to the songs for the first time it is rare to feel a genuine emotional response to the music and lyrics. This Gaunt Story is different; the songs stay with you after the last track is finished. This Gaunt Story was recorded, mixed and mastered by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rob Ashworth at his home during the winter of 2008.
