a quick update for ya...

i am going on week 6 in the city! yesterday my best friend dave came up to see me from tennessee...he will be here for 10 days, and it will be great to have an old friend help me get some perspective on this new life of mine...

i am so grateful for the people god has put in my life over the past few years that have literally saved me from the horror of the church of god! i am finding more and more that these people will always be my outlet for peace and advice, and the more i incorporate them into my life here, the better i get at making solid friendships in the city. at some point i felt that i had to break away completely from anything that reminded me of the past 5 years; instead, i have become absolutely sure that my experiences and friends from that time are crucial to figuring out who i am in this new context, and letting those people go is obviously unwise!

so that's the thought for the day...now, off to do a ridiculous amount of reading for liturgics...don't even ask...
