The Geese are a power-pop outfit from Tallahassee, Florida, which formed under songwriter/singer/guitarist Kane Gruber in the summer of 1994. Taking a cue from their influences of the Beatles, Weezer, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, and the Pixies, the Geese have improved with age, crafting a unique blend of hand-crafted hooks and rock-hard riffs. "If it rocks and it's catchy," says Gruber, "then that's how I write 'em."
How do they sound? And what do they sound like? As one anonymous person put, "they have a British rock sound." John Tan says he can "really hear the Pixies and Weezer influences." Musician Rachel Rhodes says: "Oh, the band Geese! Rock and more rock and some pop and a little hint of roll on the side... This ["Aquamarine'] is my favorite song of [theirs]. I will never tire of hearing it or playing it. EVER."
Here are a few genuine reactions to the sound we make:
THRESHOLD
"...it's so well done that anyone who likes the genre will be mindblown with this. It's a great song of its genre." -- Alantl Molina
NEW JERSEY GIRLS
"'Rawk!' I believe is what the youngsters say. It has a catchy rock chorus..." -- Bård Edlund
THE WAY I FEEL
"?This is good?" -- "Alvy Ampersand"
"rockin!" -- Bob Stacy
"My butt was wiggling the instant I hit play. Bye-bye, Productivity!" -- "Eideteker"
AQUAMARINE
"One word aptly describes this song, and that word is ROCK." -- Bret Turner
"This is some thrashing goodness, thank you!" -- Saundra Mitchell
HOLD ME TIGHT
"This is cool man, nice and rocking!" -- Matt Gallagher
"grubi's emphatic 'IT FEELS! SO! RIGHT!' at about the 3/4 mark feels inescapably--and refreshingly--modern. Maybe I'm chasing at ghosts, but there's something there, I swear." -- Josh Millard
AN EDWARDIAN APPROACH
"I liked the whole song, I think there's a niche to be filled with this kind of music...Great work! Look forward to hearing more!" -- Richard Otis
"I really like this. The rhythm, your voice, the space. Especially your voice...Really nice song..." -- "uncleozzy"
Maybe you'll agree. Or maybe not. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
