I received an email from Zoto a few days ago, describing that they are going to release a new version of their website photo-sharing application. Along with this, they were writing that 'basically' the free membership will be no more, and it will be replaced with paid subscription model. Members who doesn't want to pay will have to take their photos away, because they will be deleted. Zoto will provide some tools to archive and and download these photos, even to move them to flickr.
Here is a snippet from the email that I got:
Restrictions for Free Subscribers Not Wishing to Convert to a Paid Account
For those of you NOT wishing to upgrade to a paid account, your images from your 2.0 account will be available for download (or deletion at your discretion) after the 12th of March on a landing page when you login to 3.0. Those archives will contain ALL photos and meta data added to your account while it was on 2.0. Once you start the download, you will be given 24 hours to complete any other archive downloads you need. After that, your account and archive will be deleted from the Zoto system. For convenience sake, we will also be providing a script that can take that archive and upload it to a Flickr Pro account, if you have one.
If you are not upgrading, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for using Zoto in the past. Please be aware that this will be the last time we contact you regarding your account on Zoto.
I wish Zoto good luck with their new strategic move, although I'm not too sure how it will end-up, without free membership, I don't know ...
