Months after third parties were able to demonstrate that Comcast was throttling BitTorrent traffic, along with the FCC's decision to investigate Comcast's P2P throttling, the cable company has quietly changed (for the first time in 2 years)its Terms of Service.
According to Section III of the revised ToS, Comcast "uses reasonable network management practices that are consistent with industry standards." Comcast also states, "If the company didn't manage its network, its customers would be subject to the negative effects of spam, viruses, security attacks, network congestion, and other risks and degradations of service. By engaging in responsible network management including enforcement of this Policy, Comcast can deliver the best possible broadband Internet experience to all of its customers."
so let me see if i got this right - Comcast is sayin' their P2P throttling practices are for our own good?!
