Charles Bukowski once wrote in a poem to young writers something like that if they were not writing because of a powerful urge to do so, if it wasn´t breaking it´s way out of their chests by force, if they weren´t creating as if their life and mental health dependent on it, they shouldn´t do it.
This is how Gjöll creates music. We wouldn´t be sane without it, without it life would be unbearable, if we weren´t creating this sometimes monstrous and twisted piles of sounds and words, we would wither away and seek bliss joining the ranks of numb consumers.

on their second release, jóhann eiríksson and sigurður harðarson follow the ideological path that they began with 'way through zero'. instead of one conceptual work divided in parts, gjöll presents six tracks. the lyrics printed in the cd booklet show this project's empathy for the individual who is able to detach from political, religious or social necessities. even without listening to gjöll's music you can already feel the anger, the challenges of society's excrescences, and the frustration about the way things are (and about the way things should be). as on the previous album, gjöll transcribe their musical statements into a process in which the listener is forced to open up. pulsing drones, mighty synth layers, heavy sequencer patterns and disembowelling sub-basses combine with harðarson's ear-piercing vocals and the result is an unforgettable listening experience. this project's music is hard to compare, but both musicians are able to merge the intensity of grindcore or doom metal with industrial's sonic variety. an outstanding release and recommended to the open minded listener. cd. ant-zen act207

For this first split, we asked to PURE, EL GUSANO ROJO and GJÖLL to answer this first order.
'GINNUNGAGAP' Once, there were nothing, No sand, no sea, no iced wave. Earth does not exist, neither the high sky, Gaping was the abyss, And herbs point. The Vikings 'The creation' Theme is Bass, vibration wending its way through the extremely tight membrane of our eardrum, getting vibrating, slowly oscilating, continuing its travel in the rambling developement of the brain. 'GINNUNGAGAP' Text continuation That is the image of the original nothingness. At the very beginning, there were nothing but an unfathomable abyss, the Ginnungagap 'gaping abyss'. At the north of this hole, a world of shadow, Niflheimr 'dark world'. In the centre of it, is a source called Hvergelmir 'noisy cauldron' where from, the original rivers come out, the élivagar, with poisoned water. South, a world of fire and flames, Muspellsheimr 'world of destruction by the fire' Away from their sources, the élivagar froze and the steam coming from. the poison was getting the inside of the Ginnungagap. At the same time, the burnning air, full of sparks and little flames came from the Muspellsheimr, spread inside, too. And the frost ended to melt. The Vikings 'The creation'
