In late 2006, Portland musicians Kevin Davis and Jesse Robert W. (Pacific UV, The Jungle Wins) packed a Uhaul full of guitars, drums, a fender Rhodes, and some modest recording equipment, driving over 1000 miles to reach a secluded cabin in the desert of southern Utah. The idea was to remove themselves from any familiar reality while recording an album, letting their efforts become saturated by the surrounding atmosphere. This was not without incident (running out of gas on a long stretch of barren highway was initiation into the desert), but they arrived as intended and began recording nonstop over the next 9 days.
The result is a music that seems affected by a sort of lost time and place, infused with hints that reflect St. George's sweeping horizons, blood red plateaus, and ancient, hollow canyons.
After exiting the desert with the core of the album complete, Davis went on to mix and refine it throughout the following year at such places as Portland's Jackpot! studios, and with the help of engineering wizard and noted drummer Jeremy Sherrer (The Village Green). Despite having put out music on Other Electricities (Small Sails, Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love), a self release was decided on to put the album out sooner. Coming this March, we can finally hear the result in the form of "The Coachlight Woods", the debut album by Davis' Glowworm.
Album available NOW at Glowwormmusic.com.
Also available on iTunes, Amazon, Emusic, CDBaby, Rhapsody, and Napster, or wherever fine records are sold.

Yay for friends in a realistic vicinity. Always good to hear from other residents of Portland. Your music is excellent - I love the concept you described behind the album. I believe that there are things we cannot even begin to understand that form and create music , and your music that was created in an extreme change of atmosphere seems to reflect that like a wonderful and revealing experiment . Also, thank you for your interest in 'Voice', unfortunately, I am currently in the middle of reediting and revising for a second edition of the book, so the link is unavailable. Would you like me to tell you when it becomes available again?
