sxsw : epilogue

or "milking-it, blog-wise"

that last night i started running a horrible temperature and hardly recieved any sleep. i drove for six hours the next day shivering because my fever was so bad.

this only proves catholics right, fun is bad and hazarous to your health.

i re-read my blogs from the past few days and saw, besides the grammatical errors and the fact that it was structured worse than a rambling street-side bum's...ramblings, that i left quite a bit out. like how i ran into a few guys i knew from high school just before public enemy came on (will short and dustin anderson) and how i missed seeing roky erikson on wendsday night by minutes.

i figured that i would write this blog to fill in the gaps instead of being more orderly by going back and fixing everything.

one of the days i wasa walking around and i over heard someone say that this years sxsw will directly bring austin buisnesses over eight million dollars. so i began keeping a tab -

(this is including hotel, parking, gas, etc.)

wendsday - $5ish
thursday - $101.50
friday - $90
saturday - $95
sunday - $17

with an average of around ninety-five dollars a day for the three main days (and this is me staying at a very cheap motel and avoiding having to purchase anything)

at this rate it would take a hundred thousand people staying there one day apiece, or over thirty thousand people staying three days to reach said goal. i tried to find actual figures on the weekend, but my efforts were fruitless. but yeah, that ends this segment.

i can't remember if i blogged about it or not, but i had an amazing birthday week last year. i drove around and went to concerts for four days. two of the concerts i went to were the saame billings, it was diplo, cansei de ser sexy , and bonde do role. the first time was kind of lame, it was my first dance concert and i didn't really know what to do. on top of that, everyone else was just standing there too. a few night later, i caught up to the tour in denton and that shit was crazy. bonde do role was on fire, CSS was drunk, and diplo blew my fucking mind. this was the night that i fell in love with dance music and realized what it was about.

for this reason, friday night was my favorite. it was the only night i actually got to get drunk and lose myself. i meet a few people on the dance floor/dirt ground that were pretty bad ass and the two front people from bonde do role jumped in the crowd and danced with us during flosstradamus and spank rock's sets. the whole night there was crazy and just completly amazing. on top of that, getting to se fatlip's ex-crackhead self on stage bumping his head was pretty cool.

i love how that night got started. i was standing in the booze area (yes, the 'party' was queertastic and had it fenced off) and was listening to the music in between sets, enjoying my drink. i walked up next to a guy at the fence and he was askin me about the dj and acts playing the party. he would point at random people and ask who they were and whatnot. one time he points to this blonde guy and says "who's that?" i look up and say "woah, that's diplo. what's he doing here?". he responds "really? then who are thet?" and i yell "OH SHIT, IT'S FUCKING BONDE DO ROLE!". we both started drinking as fast as we could while running towards the stage. i never saw that guy again.

also that night, i ran into two guys in front of the stage who happened to have OiNK accounts . it was great when spank rock finished and the party (which is sponsered by windows vista) had two dj scheduled to bring things to an end and these guys started chanting "corporate bullshit". while these guys were tossing relentless taunts at the stage, the music cut out. one of the djs (dress as an orange astronaut, mind you) said "it seems we have a problem", one of the guys didn't hesitate a second to yell out "that's just like a pc to fuck up, BUY A FUCKING MAC!". at this point spank rock walks to the end of the stage and shakes the guys hand.

but yeah, i believe those are the major moments i left out. i love alexandra forever for giving me all the info i needed to make that weekend kickass and for all of the parties she invited me to. and a booo at miranda for not knowing how to answer a message.

thanks for reading my ramblings and thank you for those who told me that they enjoyed reading.

word.
