I thought I'd take a break from posting anonymous drawings I find in the waste basket and put up some stuff I made back when I was a wee outsider artist myself.
I unearthed a book full of these relics the other day and had a lot of fun remembering summer afternoons sitting at the picnic table in the back yard making comics with my brother. There are some creations I had completely forgotten about.
Today I'm posting the first part of my first mini comic I made in fifth grade. As I mentioned in my Comixtalk interview, my teacher let me make a comic to submit for a creative writing contest instead of a prose story. While all the kids were busy writing, I was having a ball making this comic.
It borrowed heavily from Prince Valiant and from a series of books by Lloyd Alexander that I was reading at the time. (The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, etc- especially the skull headed guy.)
