So Callie and I are getting a new place. It's a 2br/1bath apartment in Northeast Portland. It's about 740 square feet, so it's relatively huge (relative to our existing place). The whole complex is getting rennovated and remodeled, so we're the first people to live in the unit we're getting. Fresh paint, new light fixtures, new bathroom hardware, new tile in bathroom, and the hardwood floors have been sanded and sealed. It's an older complex, but is very nice on the inside.
I guess the real excitement comes from the fact that this is a milestone in new lives. It's a big step, but I feel pretty good about it. We looked at about 15 different places before we came across this one, it was like magic when we first stepped on the property. We just kept looking at each other with these big grins on our faces and I could tell we were both thinking "ok, this is it!" Good stuff.
We're going to be moving into it over the 5th and 6th, which will be hectic but good too. It would have been a lot worse if we waited until the first of June, our deadline to move. We'd be in the midst of finals and generally going crazy and getting no sleep. Moving on top of that would probably cause a nervous breakdown.
So all-in-all it's exciting. We have the motive, means, and opportunity to perpetrate this move, and we're going forward with gusto... 'cept we might not paint the place, but that's still kinda up in the air.
How about you all? Got and good, bad, or ugly moving experiences?
