My Name is Paul, I'm 22 years old and graduated from The Art Institute of Portland with a Bachelors of Science in graphic design.

While in school I was very involved with the student chapter of the AIGA (www.aiga.org) holding the presidential chair for a full year. While at my post I was responsible for setting goals for the group to attain, these included organizing design lectures and workshops, and raising money effectively through fundraisers.

During my senior year I worked doing pre-press for a fine-art reproduction printer here in Portland. Shortly after graduation I moved on and am currently working for a company that specializes in college sports marketing and advertising.

I love design and photography and I am looking forward to doing both as a professional.

I am taking on freelance projects so if you like my work and think I might be able to help you with a project of your own please feel free to drop me a line.

New apartment

So Callie and I are getting a new place. It's a 2br/1bath apartment in Northeast Portland. It's about 740 square feet, so it's relatively huge (relative to our existing place). The whole complex is getting rennovated and remodeled, so we're the first people to live in the unit we're getting. Fresh paint, new light fixtures, new bathroom hardware, new tile in bathroom, and the hardwood floors have been sanded and sealed. It's an older complex, but is very nice on the inside.

I guess the real excitement comes from the fact that this is a milestone in new lives. It's a big step, but I feel pretty good about it. We looked at about 15 different places before we came across this one, it was like magic when we first stepped on the property. We just kept looking at each other with these big grins on our faces and I could tell we were both thinking "ok, this is it!" Good stuff.

We're going to be moving into it over the 5th and 6th, which will be hectic but good too. It would have been a lot worse if we waited until the first of June, our deadline to move. We'd be in the midst of finals and generally going crazy and getting no sleep. Moving on top of that would probably cause a nervous breakdown.

So all-in-all it's exciting. We have the motive, means, and opportunity to perpetrate this move, and we're going forward with gusto... 'cept we might not paint the place, but that's still kinda up in the air.

How about you all? Got and good, bad, or ugly moving experiences?

Graduation time

Let me start by saying, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I'm graduating in June. I'll have my Bachelors in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Portland. I'll be "educated" and "professional" whatever that means. I'll be massively in debt, and finally living in the real world with my amazing girlfriend Callie. I won't have to worry about homework anymore. I won't have to worry about making it to class on time. I won't have to worry about having classmates that are jerks.

Now substitute 'won't' with 'will', and take off home from work, put 'work' in for 'class', and put 'coworkers' instead of 'classmates'. Man, what awesome sentence structure I have.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited about getting out there and doing real work for real people, and facing those challenges everyday. But school has been good to me. I've had more freedom with these projects than I probably will ever have with a real project. I'm positive that I'll still enjoy it, but it'll definitely be different.

Now I just need to get my butt in gear and get my portfolio together. I'll actually be using this Virb site for my temporary digital portfolio until I can find the time to put together a good website for myself.

Wish me luck everyone, the next 7 weeks are going to be really intense.
