It's been a while since I've put together a mix CD, and this is the first I am really posting publicly. Usually I make them for a specific person, like a birthday mix or a you-need-to-hear-this mix. This one was inspired by Jenn's mission to get people to make and share Autumn mixes, and initially it was an Autumn mix, but a) it's taken me so long to finalize it, and b) it's not strictly "Autumn-ish" (though many songs would fit). It's more of a "good to be alive" mix, I guess?

It was just a little over 3 years ago that I last visited California. I needed a short fall break and - since I have a new lease on life this year - wanted to visit a few friends I had not seen in a while. Matt moved out there a year ago, and I have not seen Karla or Elizabeth since my last visit.

Last week was not a great start, but I did get a couple things done (mostly over the weekend). I exercised 1 time. I did not get the blog post done, but I did get the photos off my camera and cropped, so now I just need to write the post. This is a short 3-day week, I'm going to Chicago for a Jimmy Eat World concert on Thursday, then flying to Los Angeles for a 4-day weekend on Friday, so I'm not adding much this week.

There was a period last year when I was keeping track of weekly goals and how well I was doing in my written journal. It worked quite well, at least when I wrote in my journal regularly. One of the first goals was to write in it every day for 30 days, so that made it easy. After that time though, my writing tapered off.

It's been in the back of my head for a little while that I need to post more often - that I want to post more often, at least. So I have been mulling over some ideas, and coincidentally came across a thread titled "Blog Homework Assignments" on a friend's forum; ask for them or post some for others. So I asked, and I hath received..th.

Allen Wastler is the managing editor at CNBC.com. I just read his Open Letter to the Ron Paul Faithful. It's short, but my shorter summary is: Ron Paul supporters allegedly "hacked" or targeted a campaign at the post-debate poll to get Ron Paul to 75%, and that's why they removed the poll from their site.
I emailed a response and figured it would be interesting enough to post here as well:
