:: The Silence Over Coffee ::

I asked what you thought;
You shrugged,
As if that were an adequate opinion.
You went out for a smoke
(Don't deny it- I could smell it
On your breath and in your hair)
After stirring my words into your coffee.
You let it cool overnight,
Took a sip first thing in the morning,
Dumped it down the kitchen sink,
And wiped your mouth with the
Back of your hand.
When I came back the next day
And asked again what you thought,
You just offered me some coffee
With your stained smile
(Still charming, nonetheless).
And I,
I shrugged,
Took the cup from your hands
Turned on my heel and walked out the door.
You followed-
"Hey wait..!"
You froze in the door way,
Your jaw hanging limp
Like a white flag.
"Close your mouth,"
I said, and turned away.
"Besides,
It's not like you've got anything to say."
