the classic question people ask me: you're a vegetarian, do you eat fish?
my answer: NO, no fish, no meat, no gelatin or other things you can only get by killing the animals...

and you?

Naomi says:

This question drives me a little nuts.

And when i reply with no I consume no animal products at all I usually get the:

But my friend is a vegetarian and they eat fish.

I cant count the number of time I've said "I'm a vegan and no vegetarians do not eat fish.I'm afraid your friend is not in fact a vegetarian"

Addie says:

Ok, I know this conversation went on a week ago and I am new to this site.... but i would like some advice on this.... I am a Vegan and believe in animals rights including lil fishies, but I do eat Oysters. Anyone have advice or an opinion on this, or even educate me.... I know they don't have a nervous system, and they're not classified as fish, sooooooo do they fall under the can't eat category?

annihilation [these hinges] says:

actually oysters do have a nervous system...

sometimes the easiest thing is go off the scientific classification of animals .. so anything falling underneath the animal kingom you're not going to eat. in this case an oyster is a mollusk which is a phylum underneath the animal kingdom. and therefore on the do not eat list....

haha perhaps that's sort of making it sound more complex though...

Addie says:

Thanks annihilation! That makes perfect sense, not complexe at all. Appriciate it. I'll be cuting them from my diet starting today.

Naomi says:

yup they do have an nervous system. galad to hear your cutting them out of your diet!

Leanne says:

vegans are hot because they let themselves care about others, and recognize the interconnectedness of the world. this speaks to their souls and thus they are free. and being free means your true self shines through. and being yourself is hot.

but that's just my opinion.

Sub-Comandante says:

see this is when its up to the person themselves to chose weather they want to be vegans or veggitarians or if they want to eat meat for that matter. i do have self love for being a vegan, but i dont thrust my veganism down other peoples throats. its a matter of choice thats what i say. in other words i dissagree with what you've said max.
