Can't cook, won't cook (the microwave group)

we like quick and easy, thanks

Ok, you know why you're here - you like your food to be simple and instant. There's more to life than standing over a hot oven for hours when the meal you produce is consumed in less than 15 minutes.

This may seem like the easy way out, a lazy person's way to cook but guess what? You're right! It is! Halleluya! We like instant gratification and when you're hungry, well, you just don't want to wait.

Share your microwave successes and disasters.
Recipes - what, you mean all you do is open a can and heat the contents? - well done!
Share tales of anything at all that you like or dislike about this wonderful time-saving piece of kitchen equipment.
Maybe we'll decide that we really should be making the effort to use the oven to produce a wonderful, tasty meal for the family...maybe.

So... When you're livin' alone, and the groceries get low... It's time to get creative... About six months ago, I got hungry, and guess what?? Groceries were low. I had some chili beans, but I didn't really have any meat... you can't have Chili without meat!! I continued to search my belonging until I came across the missing ingredient... In the back corner of my cabinet, I found the missing meat... Two unopen cans of Tuna. So... The recipe goes as follows...

1 Can of Chili Beans 2 Cans of Tuna.
Microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes.
Serve with two-week old stale birthday cake.
And wash it down with enough beer (about a case) to forget about the aweful smell that now stains your kitchen, and the horrible taste in your mouth.

My mom really doesn't cook at all. When I would come home from wherever, our idea of a good home cooked meal was our favorite Greek restaurant =)

I use it to reheat everything except pizza (or anything else that needs to be crispy). I don't know what i would do without one.

Really? Every Monday night is pizza night here and I'll let it cool off so I can reheat it... sick! =)

i've turned laziness into a true artform. honestly, if there was a magic pill that i could take once a day to get needed nutrients (and it might hafta expand so you feel full) i'd be all over that. eating is a waste of time. sorta like socks ;D

heshta says:

oohhhhh no you didn't!!! I LIVE TO EAT!!!! ahahahhaha

but I could do without matching socks =P

,, Chodehakama Watson ,, says:

no i haven't. does that actually work? wouldn't it just make them really effin hot, but still wet?

moo says:

I've no idea! Never tried but I have heard tell - maybe it's an urban myth ...

that's right... I think my mother in law told me to microwave the dishwasher sponge to kill all the germs, but she's told me a lot of things to do that I never will.

,, Chodehakama Watson ,, says:

oh, i do intend to make a video... but whether or not it happens depends on something i need to test when i get home.

soggy pizza is the best! in fact, i think i prefer it over it coming straight out of the box from dominos.

if someone stole my oven the only reason i'd notice would be the missing clock.

I know what you mean. I need to learn to cook less food because we alway have too many leftovers.

HEATHER says:

haha.. how did you know i belonged here?! i haven't used the oven/stove in years! no lie, there was a family of mice living in there for a while shortly after we moved in 7 years ago and i've been too freaked to use the oven since... even though we've successfully evacuated the mice. while i use that as my excuse now, i'm not sure i would have used it much had we not had the mouse problem.... i'm just a lazy (and impatient) gal. :D

I'm going to probably change the group pic, because of all my groups, this is the only one that comes up with the picture covering the blurb - sometimes but not always - and I'm thinking it may be the size of the image. So if it changes, you'll know why!
(and if anyone knows why it does that, please enlighten me).

HK people are always in a hurry... but I think the "microwave culture" is less serious when compared to America...

Anyway, we don't own one. Nothing personal to share, I'm afraid. Sorry!

moo says:

Right. Enough is enough! Maybe the image is shifting over because of the cartoon in the blurb ... I honestly don't know... I'm going to edit that out and post it as a comment instead and see if it solves anything...

(Edit: seems to have - for now)
