This is a terrific image image Davey, and it is a good demonstration of how using relatively shorter lenses enhances interactiveness. 50mm on a crop sensor is about as long as I go these days. I love how you have the attention of the guitar player while the gentleman near the tracks is lost in thought with a concerned look. The lighting, mood, and depth are great. The Times Square and 42nd St signs are classic, and the people in motion everywhere around the columns add to the shot without making it too busy.

One more thing - this is a remarkably clean image considering how much DOF you got in a subway station. I wonder how it would look if you added some grain. I just started experimenting with adding an overlay of scanned B&W film grain and think it might add some nice texture to this image. Just a thought.

Thanks, Amin.
Funny thing is, this photo was shot with my less expensive 18-200 DT F/3.5-6 kit lens that came with my camera. I honestly wasn't sure if Sony would hold up Minolta's high optical standards in lenses after they bought out the Minolta camera business, but the lenses actually seem to be getting even better.
Glad you like the shot!

I like the fact that it looks super warm and he has an enormous jacket on and a beanie in the last picture.

He definitely had some significant temperature-sensing issues. It was about 80 degrees outside =).

I like the composition in the third one down -- good use of existing lines and depth of field. Really great job on that one.
