You Call That Food?

A place to talk about junk/snack foods...you know...that crap that barely qualifies as food. Tell us about those that you love...and the ones that make you sick just thinking of them.

Junk food is a term describing food that is perceived to be unhealthy or having poor nutritional value, according to Food Standards Agency.

Junk food typically contains high levels of fat, salt, or sugar and numerous food additives such as monosodium glutamate and tartrazine; at the same time, it is lacking in proteins, vitamins and fiber, among others. It is popular with suppliers because it is relatively cheap to manufacture, has a long shelf life and may not require refrigeration. It is popular with consumers because it is easy to purchase, requires little or no preparation, is convenient to consume and has lots of flavor.

These are the special 10 flavors received in this package. I have eaten the dirt. one it was sick. These are great to mix in with the good Jelly Bellies as a little suprise.

Maybe because kids eat weird combinations of stuff to begin with. So, why not facilitate that a little more with something like this. Plus, kids like weird and probably would be attracted to the packaging. I pretty sure that my 7 year old daughter would like something like this.

Wait, wasn't flat moo mention elsewhere? Like on the flat stanley page. At any rate, I guess she has some redemption because she eats snickers. And there is nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy. Just doesn't necessarily fit with what is discussed in this group. :-)

moo says:

yep - that's what I meant. My flat moo (on flat stanley) is the same as this one above. Yes I know this has nothing to do with the food group, it's just that I was planning on apologising for the earlier digs here and came across this picture. Random. End of.

I would prefer oreo cookies to graham crackers. I love cookies and cream ice cream. And any ice cream pie with a oreo cookie crust. Intersting concoction non the less. :-)

While oreos and ice cream are definitely delish...my favorite cookies to mix-in would be shortbread or gingersnaps...depending on the type of ice cream, of course.

sctas says:

The most evil element of this entire mess I create - is that the ice cream [Private Selection, the store brand for Kroger grocers] actually contains Oreos [not Hydrox, not generic choco-wafer]. So it's cookies and cream ice cream PLUS my extras. It can vary from pound cake, Cheerios [either honey nut -or- that new multi-grains one] or oatmeal cookies [the frosted top kind]. Sweet tooth? I call it a "sweet mouth".

Ah, but do you ever add Hard Shell or Chocolate syrup or cherries to it. Or are you just cookie and cream and crunchy add-in kinda guy.

I prefer to have my nuts and ice cream seperate. sctas specifically said wet nuts, which is disgusting. However, I do like cinnamon pecans or walnuts. Just not on the ice cream. Oh, just remembered one exception butter pecan ice cream, the nuts are already in there and not on top. :-)
