iPod

what's on your iPod?

iPod
Sounds like you.

What does it mean to carry thousands of songs in your pocket? It means getting that tune out of your head and into your headphones. It means putting your music in motion. It means having instant access to the soundtrack of your life.

Forget what color yours is, how many gigabytes it holds, what generation it is. What's on it makes it yours.

Zune-iTunes Compatitability Question, Answered!
I have been getting a some flack lately from certain sources both within and outside of Redmond: they maintain that there is absolutely no reason why the Zune should not be able to auto-sync with iTunes on any platform! They say;
"open it up Steve, open it up!"

Let me just say it this way, whenever anyone says to me, "open it up Steve", I know what they plan to do next!
I am not falling for it!

They are absolutely correct that the Zune could very easily sync with any software, on any platform. So why doesn't it?
answer: Because I DON'T WANT IT TO!
Microsoft is the majority company! We control 92% of the desktops, let them come crawling to us!
Rolling over for minority companies and their "me too" software would set a bad precedent.

I have a mini, which I got about three years ago. You're right; they're no longer sold...or manufactured. :( I think they stopped right around the time the nano came out.

Hey all. I've been in need of a new iPod protector, so I took a peek at the ShieldZone that alot of you have been talking about. So far, I've been impressed, but I'd just like to know if it makes pre-application scratches look more visible. I'd hate to be reminded of the days when that old piece of garbage was fit loosely around my iPod. Ughh.

Thanks in advance!

The old scratches are not as visible, but they are there none the less. However, ShieldZone also sells "Applesauce Polish" that is supposed to buff out scratches and blemishes. I've never used it, but I hear it works.

You would think a $200 - $300-something technological wonder such as the iPod would be a little more scratch resistant. Do yourself a favor and check out ShieldZone (www.shieldzone.com) to make your iPod and other gadgets indestructible.

Yeah, I started using one within a week of getting an iPod because of the tales about the screen getting scratched just by breathing on it. ;) Works great and it's still totally scratch/smudge free. Love it.

Ok, so we have the new iTunes (w/ iTunes Plus support), now where is my DRM free music?

With EMI's move to DRM-free music, I'm hoping they all learn soon. :)

I still think charging more for removing something that shouldn't have been there in the first place is ridiculous. It's a step in the right direction to remove DRM, but we never wanted it there to begin with.

Here's PC World's article on iTunes Plus for the curious: http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/004511.html

Just Because iCan says:

If you're buying full albums, a lot of them are still $9.99, so you never really experience the price increase (which is awesome). I bought a CD this morning as soon as the "Plus" stuff was available to me. And that's saying something, because I haven't bought a CD in a few years (I stick mostly to podcasts and gifted music).

Here's a little FYI...Newsgroups are the best kept secret...and that's all I'm gonna say.

Tremolo says:

There are actually entire sites, like eMusic for example (here are a few others), that legally offer all their music DRM-free, although it's only certain labels or artists. No need to pirate necessarily.

All labels just need to get on the DRM-free boat... and not charge more per song because of it.
