if your own father, while you were being slowly tortured to death (try to imagine how this would feel if it were really happening to you, a sadist has you bound and is using a power drill to drill into your body repeatedly, then uses a knife to cut off all of you fingers and toes, after which he cauterizes them with a branding iron to stop the blood so you don't die too quickly. this goes on for at least eighteen hours, nonstop. take some time to really develop this scenario in your head. if you have never experienced intense pain, realize that whatever you imagine will fall short.) stood by and did nothing, how would you feel? he could easily stop the torture and release you, but chooses not to. he tells you there's nothing he can do, because the person torturing you has free will (you, of course, are not afforded that luxury). as you are screaming, he tells you to rest easy, after you die he'll make it up to you by providing a happy environment for you.

if there is a god who has created you and loves you, and if he is not impotent, this is EXACTLY what he is doing to millions of people RIGHT NOW. billions, if you add up everyone who has ever lived. so i guess my question is this: how is it that you tolerate the same behavior from god that you would not from your own father, who i expect would be judged by a lesser standard, being imperfect and all?

I ask myself that question every day. If I believe that I am a member of His Body, and His will is that I venture out into the world and persue good. To bring grace and peace into a world, where profit and individualism are king, where things are loved and people used. If I believe hate is murder. God is Love. Lust is rape. Peace is work? ... Is there good without personal sacrifice?

Maybe I'm moving too fast. A lot of the words I used are poorly defined. Do I make any sense?

Thanks Gabe. Wow its been a while since I posted that. We just finished 2corinthians and are moving into Romans the week after next. Leading cost Paul quite dearly, though I think that he would smile at me saying so. Lashings and bandits and starvation and shipwrecked. Yet blessed! I love how dearly he desires for the Church in Corinth to rise to their devine calling.

Hey, T5! I'm a worship leader and I pastor the worship teams and choir at my church. Leading DOES cost. There is much value in it. Bless you and your wife in your endeavors!
Teach them about our responsibility as children of God. He is not our cosmic bellhop waiting to fulfill our every request. No! We are His children privileged and enabled to enact His will with our own because we are in training to rule and reign with Him.

How many of you out there lead something? or are involved?
over the last month I've really been struggling with the Bible study that Gods called my wife and I to lead in our home. I'd never lead a bible study without some one directly helping me so it has been taking a lot out of me this last month. Leadership is stewardship. It costs you something doesn't it? That helps me to see Gods grace more clearly.

ridiculous.

Where is everybody???

January 9th!!!

Anybody listening to the Ask Anything vodcasts from Mars Hill ? His messages on Grace and the one on Predestination were fantastic. Or, for something a little more crowd pleasing, try the one on Is birthcontrol a sin? Methodical, nonjudgmental and dead on. Don't forget to watch the Q and A segment. Just remember ya get what you pay for...

Isn't it funny that God sent an angle to mary and joeseph to let them know what to call his son. I wonder if he knew they might have given him some wretched family name from Jo's side of the family had he not interceded.
