I live outside providence & I've been going to boston no less than once per month since early 90s. When I was in high school my friends would go up to paradise, axis, and avalon for shows. I saw shows at the old axis before it burned(91 I think?) and I've seen many shows at the landsdowne st location. Usually I drive to either quincy adams garage or alewife garage if I'm not going out late. My favorite thing to eat is the yin-yang milkshake at trident booksellers cafe on newbury st(near mass ave intersection where tower records used to be). I don't want to offend people because it seems like all these people out there love jamaica plain but I really don't like jamaica plain at all. So if jamaica plain is your thing we can hang out for coffee/tea in back bay, newton, or cambridge ;-)

Had a lot of fun visiting Boston last summer. Nice city, good beer, lots of cultural events and the road from Montreal to Boston is actually worth the trip itself.

Boston's a cool place. A bit of an identity crisis as far as cities go, but hey - what cities don't up here in the northeast US?

I'm from central MA, so Boston trips are an occasional happening. Got lots of friends attending school there. If I could find a job out there working film or game development, I'd move there.

Alive Film, try the burbs around Boston - usually cheaper than living in the city - especially if you've got wheels and patience (my fellow masshole cohorts will do their best to make sure your commute is driving hell).

Teevio says:

cheap? now that's a good question... pretty much keep in mind that the closer to the city the more expensive it gets, the cheaper you want, the crappier and smaller the apartment gets. you might find a deal, but considering you are moving when every college student is moving it will be hard. how's that for good news?

You should consider Somerville/Medford area for close to the city, but cheaper than most areas living.

I went to Boston for the first time in January and its such a beautiful city!
Granted, I thought I was going to lose some toes to frostbite, but hey, do I really need ten? Seems like overkill anyways.
I definitely want to go back and check it out again!

Ok, next time you're in the area you need to let me know so I can clear my schedule. And, so you don't forget, I will win.
