This was a weird find...

All were taken with a Canon 350D (love that camera, but am gradually outgrowing it).

C&C's always welcome.

Retta says:

Yeah, I debated whether I should buy the body only or get the kit lens that came with it. In the end, I got the lens because I wanted to start shooting right away but I think I will be upgrading that soon too. I would like to get a good macro lens eventually.

I too use my 50mm a lot. It's so freakin' crisp love it. I recently bought a Tokina Ultra Wide Angle its a 12-24mm ... Its amazing for outdoor landscapes and such I'm happy with it. It was around $400.

So I got my camera but they didn't ship the memory card with it! I may have to go buy another one just to get started using it...

Webb says:

Yeah, I don't use lights; only the sun.
All those were shot with my Canon 10-22mm. Since purchasing it a year ago this month, I have hardly used anything since. The occasional few shots with my 60mm fixed macro, but other than that, I haven't even touched my 17-85mm since I got the wide angle.
Glad you dig my stuff, man.

I like shooting with my 50mm f1.8 II .. I keep having noise issues.
I try to shoot at 100 ISO when I can, I read that this can cut down on noise.
Any tips? Thoughts?

Brandon Aaskov says:

I have that same fixed lens and I love it. ISO is the chips sensitivity to light, so if it's at 100 (the lowest it goes) you'll need more light for the pictures you take, but there won't be much noise, if any. As you start moving up the ladder (200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 if your camera has it) you'll see more and more noise introduced into the picture. Take the same picture of an object/scene over and over again at different ISO settings and compare them - you'll see what I mean.

The reason ISO is good, is because sometimes you need to shoot in low light situations and might not want to use a flash. You would bump up the ISO to be able to get decent shutter speeds (so there's no blur), but of course the trade off is that you're introducing noise.

I shoot with a 20D and I'm thinking about getting the Canon 70-200 L USM 4 lense. Anyone have it or shot with it?

Brandon Aaskov says:

I have the 70-300mm lens with IS, and while I haven't used the lens that you're talking about, I highly encourage getting a lens with IS (image stabilization). It costs more, but it's worth it. You'll be able to shoot in lower light scenarios when a lens without IS would never work. If you plan on shooting when there's plenty of light, then you might not need IS, but it always helps.

I have the 70-200 F/4 L and I really enjoy it. The only thing I miss is the 300mm focal length but I feel it is worth it for the ring USM and sharpness.

I use that at work, and its amazing... I agree with Brandon, though... but it depends on what you are needing/wanting it for in the end...

Hey guys! I am really trying to find my own photography style or technique or whatever you want to call it, and I have recently really gotten into doing designs like the one below. Although I know some picture would look better as completely black and white or completely color, I was wondering if people like this way of editing the picture as much as I do. Feedback please?

Check out this thread:http://flickr.com/groups/technique/discuss/72157594586731913/

It's the idea you're going for where everything in the image has the same tone. There's a few suggestions in that link, but I tried using the Apply Image... command in PS and it seemed to do the trick for most of my pictures. I really like that style, and am trying to perfect it. How are you currently doing it?
