I saw him at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia. I've seen a lot of shows, and that was the best I've ever seen.
He played a new song called "Majesty Snowbird" and it gave a great glimpse into the future.

i'm seeing him FRIDAY!
oh yes, be jealous. :)
haha.
i was going to bear witness to the glory known as SUFJANATHALLO, but anathallo can't make the latest showtime [it's a music festival with two showings, and of course, i have the ticket to the later show].
it's depressing, but i was going for sufjan primarily so it's still alright!

You and I both, anne. I wish he were my neighbor.
And no, I've never seen him play live. Someday soon, I hope!

Sufjan as a neighbor would be priceless. I wouldn't even mind if I heard music coming from his house for hours.

would probably say Seven Swans, maybe because it was the first I got, maybe because it's a very good digestable length, maybe because the songs seem more personal than on the other albums. but it's a hard call cos Illinoise is amazing too!!!

I have to say Seven Swans, too. I got it as a birthday present in Dec 05 and listened to it for the first time while driving through a Tennessee sunset. I think tears welled up a number of times for unknown reasons. I've been the biggest fan ever since. That album still remains my favorite. "To Be Alone With You" is the song of choice, as well.

That's tough to say because I feel like he's continually growing and getting better and a stronger songwriter, but Seven Swans is definitely the album that means the most to me.

Illinoise is the most upbeat (minus John Wayne Gacy, Jr.), but Michigan is gorgeous and Seven Swans I can listen to over and over and over, i love the sister song.

i love the song Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, IL on the Illinoise album. I am from the St. Louis area, and after I first heard this song, I read about the UFO sightings in Highland and Collinsville. I think that it is interesting that Sufjan finds obscure occurances and makes songs around them.
