I have this weird feeling that Desmond wasn't telling Charlie the whole truth about the "flash" he had about the Looking Glass. My suspicions started when the flash wasn't shown to the viewer. I imagine he covered something up to ensure Charlie kicked the bucket.

I'm just mad that Desmond had Charlie's letter in his shirt pocket when he dived in the ocean. Now Claire won't get to see his "greatest hits".

A lot of people have asked why Charlie did not try to save himself. He definitely had that choice. If Desmond's flashbacks don't happen exactly as he saw them, then they don't come to full fruition. So Charlie knew he had to drown (excatly as Desmond had foreseen) so that Claire and Aaron would be rescued.

I wish that fool wouldn't have died though. He has gotten progressively better as a person over the course of these 3 seasons and everything with Claire was beginning to finally happen. Poor guy. Poor Claire. Poor turnip-head too.

The path of secrecy is a slippery slope. While necessity may dictate, at times, that we shade ourselves and our work from the all-too-often harsh light of inquiry, habitual secret-keeping can mire even the noblest of intentions in shadow.
-Alvar Hanso
Could Ben have found one thing to agree upon with the (dead) dharma initivite that its imperative to keep this island a secret. He seemed to be sincere (which is difficult to imagine) about them not notifying the outside world.
Could Naomi be working with Dr. Thomas Werner Mittlewerk? who has a position on the board of the Widmore foundation? a connection anyone?
I think ben was being truthful and Naomi was not working with Penny Widmore but using her research that was looking for Des.

The more I think about it, something is still buggin me about that talk between Jack and the other guy at the end of the sat phone.... that tone he used at the start that completely changed by the end.
If the Dharma massacre happened that many years ago, wouldn't Alvar Hanso have already sent in a merc special forces team to clean up the hostiles for good? Why return back to the Island now instead of going back to take back the island by force back then when it happened?

i believe alvar and mittelwerk didnt see eye-to-eye. There was some sort of mutany with in the foundation. This could be mittelwerk trying to find his way back(where or when) to the island.

Maybe it's a Dharma boat? I'm sure Ben wouldn't be to happy if they showed up on the island again, since he led a massacre of their people... I don't think we've heard the last of Alvar Hanso.

Alvar Hanso is under house arrest, by his own organization. This was made clear by the Online Experience. It seems obvious to me that Naomi was working for Hanso Foundation, but it is the now corrupt foundation led by a select few with very shady pasts. I like that Chris raises the (where or when) factor, since the when is now a compelling angle. I think the magnet that exploded was in fact a time machine, resetting the island's time every 108 minutes. When it blew, the island was forced back into moving forward along our timeline, however, it was so far in the past that they began resetting things every 108 minutes, the island, in a sense travelled through time.
Again, I'll argue it till I'm blue in the face, I think it is a Dharma ship and one that's breaking through the arctic ice to the real location of the island. [Insert common Atlantean theories here]

Is anyone else a little unnerved by the sheer number of people the Survivors have killed a this point? 11 more last night brings their kill count up over 16, I think, but I might be counting wrong. How many people have the Others killed? Charlie, the two Hatch Girls and...?
Who are really the villains on this show? I think there are just as many, if not more, bad guys on the Survivors side of the island as there are with the Others.

I disagree, in this environment with no law, its killed or be killed. The survivors are trying to live, the others have been on the offensive the whole time. If I were Sawyer I would have shot Tom in the stomach then the head. If I were Desmond I would have shot patchy again after the spear gun to make sure he was dead. You can't trust the others loyal to Ben, there is no jail... its lord of the flys out there. No prisoners.
Its all about survival, can't fault the losties because they are better at it :)
Oh and if I were Jack or Sayid I would have lead an offensive to take out the Others long ago, not giving them the chance to strike again. The best defense is a good offense in this case, which is why 3 managed to kill 7 others that were going to kill any lostie that tried to interfere with their newest attack.

It seems a little too easy to dislike Ben. Do you think that maybe he (and the others) are so secretive because they don't want to cause some sort of a "paradox". My Geekrick brain has been working over time and the secrecy and mystery make sense if you know that telling someone that you know the future will totally mess them up?
What's the "Temple?"

Totally a paradox thing. I think Time Travel is the missing element to a lot of these mysteries. Unfortunately, to me, a time travel plotline, kinda feels like a cop out.

I think Ben is at least a little bit right about Naomi and her crew, the guy that spoke over the phone to jack at first used a very secretive and aggressive tone, then after figuring out (what he believes) Naomi fell on the island and is still alive... he completely changes his tone to be accommodating, I dunno but I would think that any call they got from her phone whomever was on the other side of the line would have been a bit more worried and glad.
oh and it was fun seeing Ben get beat up....

i think he was mentioning his father just to drive the point home that he can't get his dad back. or maybe the island can, and that's why he's saying it and wants to go back? magic box anyone? maybe its the same way how locke's dad said he was in a car crash and then ended up on the island.

You're over-thinking it. He was just jonesing for another fix. He lied to the attendant. There was a good chance his dad was still in their databases as a registered doctor. He just needed to score.

@JK - Locke's dad (I don't even think it's really his dad. He's a con man, after all) was hit by a car much like Juliet's ex was hit by a bus.
As for Jack's dad, Jack was drinking and popping Oxy like candy. I think m Dot is right. :)

The creators have already said that Cerberus can take "snapshots" of your memories, and then appear to you in a human form from your past. Just like Mr. Eko's brother appearing to him, although he wasn't alive; Jacks father appeared to him, but perhaps he's not dead at all. Jack never found his body in the casket, so it's possible that he wasn't in there to begin with.

I like what I read in a previous entry about Desmond changing things and it re-writes the past/present/future. maybe by his medling jacks father isn't dead, maybe he found that out after he got off the island perhaps.

if he didn't shut it before the window blew, the station would have lost pressure and the moon pool would have come rushing in.. then it would cause a blowout, and most likely Desmond would be dead also. as to why he didn't swim out of the porthole... ?
