Why yes in fact I do love sushi too. I apologize for not being able to participate and be labeled as Spam.
In Particular we have a 'Mexican Roll' here in California, the outside of it is fried tempura which is amazing.

Isn't it silly how excited we get when we get a new sushi place in our town?! We also have a Fuji Sushi here in Orlando (two locations now). Seems to be a popular name for sushi restaurants. What's in the "baymeadows roll"? :-)

crab, salmon, cheese, and it's deep fried with hot sauce and mayo strip on top like a dynamic roll...

Lately I've been making my friends try the gimmicky novelty sushi at the place near my home. One is a roll made with peanut butter and tempura-battered jalapeno, and it is so good. The texture is key, kind of like when a roll uses that spicy mayonnaise I love.
In Corpus Christi, at the Water Street Oyster Bar, they just installed a sushi counter. Instead of being "real" sushi, though, it's spicy, "Texas-style" rolls with a lot of jalapeno, made with fresh catches from the Gulf nearby. It's weird of them to do that, but ultimately, really tasty.

I live in Dallas, Texas, and if anyone lives near by or travels through, i strongly suggest stopping by my favorite sushi restaurant...SUSHI SAMBA. My girlfriend and i love that place. It combines cuisine from Japan, Brazil, and Peru. Awesome sushi! Great experience! They also have restaurants in New York, Chicago, and Miami.

What was your fist sushi experience? Did you go into it willingly? with trepidation? Unbridled enthusiasm? Alone, with friends? What was or is the craziest thing you have had?
My introduction was in the mid 90's. I had heard about sushi, it seemed like a strange sub culture reserved for the adventurous and well-to-do crowd. I was inducted one night as part of a diner celebration for completing a big project at work. So I had a group of well educated sushi eaters around me. Even better the hosts are the kind of people that when the wait staff ask what do you want, they say, "just start bringing stuff out, surprise us." When your with some one like that you know your in for a good time. I tried so many exciting and different things that night, I was not entirely certain I really enjoyed it. After the second third time I went out for sushi, yeah, i was hooked, no doubt.
None of it seems crazy now, the only item I generally do not like on my sushi these days is quail egg (raw).
Tell us your first experience...

If you live in or are going through Phoenix, I would suggest checking out Hana Sushi. One of my students told me her parents own a sushi restaurant and I expressed interest as it is one of the very few sushi restaurants in Arizona that is actually run and operated by Japanese people. It is a little shop just east of 7th Ave and Union Hills. They have really good sushi and rolls, and not that hard on the pocketbook as well. I would strongly suggest the Hana Special roll.

My sister's been there and she said she loved it, even though she's not really a fan of sushi. I was just happy that she was brave enough to try it. :)

It was very surreal actually.
My wife and I won a trip to Tokyo for the Spiderman 3 world premiere.
It included airfares, accomodation and spending money. A total blast!
I've got a few of the photos on my profile. There's a whole lot more I need to upload.
Will get around to it shortly.
