changing the way one ticks . . .

Calling the Others . . .
This group is for those using psychedelics * as philosophical tools with the aim of understanding just what's going on, why we're on this planet. . , & where we're heading. This space could be good for sharing experiences & we could even attempt some timid mapping of hyperspace.

* By psychedelics we mean essentially, though not exclusively, all naturally occuring plant hallucinogens.

Albert Hofmann will be dearly missed. A Great man with an amazing discovery that went wrong when the CIA and the press got their hands on it. Without Him my life and life views would certainly not be what they are today, and i would have never taken the paths i did. It is my sad regret to hear he has left this world, but following my personal belief of DMT i feel we but only need to wait 49 more days until we will see the likes of him again.

I read the german interview with him. His last. He was quite a content man. Excited about seeing old friends and loved ones. Leaving his "reciepe" behind on a napkin. That is now bieng auctioned here in Germany for charity.

One a many rides that are worthy of sharing. I will try to squeak in some time to share some Amsterdam experiences and beyond.

I was just checking out Lorenzo's "Notes from the Psychedelic Salon" & I stumbled onto the news that Albert Hofmann died yesterday at the age of 102. I'm sure a lot of our lives have been kind of mixed up in the good doctor's work & I'd like just to express my thanks & say that he will be dearly missed....

Salvia? ! was just saying to my friend that I'll never try Salvia again as long as I live, having tried it a few times. The first time I don't remember - I didn't take a large enough dose. The next time, I was totally unconscious to the outside world, but I flew in through coloured roofs into a room where these old ladies reacted to me with surprise and hostility, as if to say, "What the hell are you doing here?". I'm told that I shouted in a strange language and shot backwards. The next time I didn't take enough again, but I was half in and half out of what felt like a plasma screen. Half in the world and half in the land of the dead. The last time, I was on the floor of a corrugated tunnel with many people hurrying past. A man tried to pull me along with him, and I got the impression that I was with the dead (and this time I was one of them). I came round begging to be helped up, even though I was sitting down.
The experience frightened me. REAL "Zombies"!
I'm not curious about being dead (anymore), I want to live and enjoy life. I find this stuff CREEPY.

This, believe it or not, is part 3. Try beginning with part 1 - 2 shouts down - then work your way back up through pts 2 & finish up with this third episode.

The effect comes on so quickly that one scarcely has the time to lay down before it hits & one is gone. You'll probably find "yourself" in a space - the famous Salvia Space - that is something like Fairyland or The Land of The Dead. Anyway, it's like a moving, jagged, mass of unfolding slices of architectural consciousness - the Buddhist notion of "entering the stream" describes it perfectly - and it's chock-a-block with assorted entities. You have made it to platform nine & three quarters, you're on the Hogwarts express : welcome to the 19th dimension.
For me, it peaks around the 4 minute mark & at 7 minutes I start to re-establish contact with the "myself" on the couch. Even when I know I'm "back", I wait a further ten minutes or so before getting up. Again here, the game is not to yield to astonishment or hysterical laughter because, ultimately, the idea is to bring something back (thanks) for the tribe. Which is difficult enough when one considers that that which was seen & experienced was seen & experienced without the cumbersome presence of the ego. Well, you just done got it back - lol - so how are you now going to articulate all this. . . . even to yourself ?
Through constant practice, my friends, through constant practice. But I'll shut up - for now - telling you what you probably already know & I eagerly await your comments.

Now this is part 2 - sorry, but there's limited space per shout.

The way to do it :

Personally, I see no point in working with anything stronger than 5x. The first thing to do, as always in these matters, is to consult Erowid.org & thoroughly do your homework. As two heads are supposedly better than one, you might also want to check out Daniel Seibert's Sage Wisdom site.
The only place to do this is AT HOME. This is neither a drug of abuse nor a banal party drug and must be approached with a minimum of respect. Common sense would have a "sitter" present. Hmmm, I'd have to agree, though I must confess I've never called upon the services of such a person myself..... The thing is, you might be so shocked at having the world & yourself "blown away" like that, that you might try to get up & wind up busting your head on the glass coffee table. The sitter's role is to prevent this from happening by keeping you in the chair or on the couch.
So, ok, you've read about salvia, you've ordered a gram or two of 5x, the sitter has been duly briefed & is present. If you're not sure why you're doing this, it's a good idea to ask the plant to please be kind & show you what you need to know. Now, weigh out 80 to 100 mg of extract & load it - pure - into a glass bong or shabang. Sit on the couch, or whatever, & practise quickly getting your feet up so as to be perfectly comfortable. Salvia evaporates at a high temperature & some sources recommend using one of those "turbo-flame" type lighters. I've obtained the same results with a match. Have a good toke, hold it in then blow it out & have another. At this point either the sitter relieves you of the pipe or you put it
down fast & with care. You lay down & you close your eyes.

Sorry I'm late with this but I'm having trouble with my connection to the internet right now & this is being done at a friends'. This is part 1.

I take it most of you are familiar with Salvia divinorum. However, & just in case you've never encountered it, let's say it's a member of
the sage family & the most powerful naturally occuring psychedelic so far encountered on the planet. Native to the Oaxaca region of
Mexico, with a little care it'll grow just about anywhere & cuttings may be purchased on the net from a multitude of sites, along with
all sorts of enhanced extracts - 5x , 10x , etc. - for smoking. The quality of these extracts varies considerably so it's a good idea to
check out the forums most of these sites run & see what the users think. The smoking of extracts may not be the traditional way in
which the Mazatec people use salvia but it certainly works. . . to say the least.

If you've never had a psychedelic experience, then this is the plant I recommend you start with. Why ? Because the whole experience is
over after 15 to 20 minutes & it will literally propel you into a profound trance accompanied by ego loss/death, cultural boundary
dissolution, the whole shabang. . . I know this is jumping in at the deep end but, when you do that, you bob back up to the surface in no
time at all, dry yourself off & go on about your business. It may scare the hell out of you but, so what, it's only fear of letting go
& it's not going to kill you. On the other hand, a full blown mushroom experience can last around 5 hours....., quite long should
you not like it.

Should it be true, and I somehow sense it is, that we, as a species, are coming to an evolutionary breakthrough which will
see us departing from matter and setting up shop out there (or in here), in hyperspace, then we need to prepare. We need
to change our minds, we need to shift our take on this whole (?)"life" experience. Well, what better way - of achieving new
models of being - than the psychedelic experience ? As far as I know, and if one takes enough, a full psychedelic experience
can be induced by : -
The Tryptamines : Magic Mushrooms like Stropharia cubensis, Ayahuasca, the Cohoba snuffs, Morning Glories Virgin seeds HB
Woodrose, Iboga and, of course, LSD and crystal DMT.
Mescaline : Peyote, San Pedro etc.
Salvia divinorum . . .
Amanita muscaria (after some hesitation : it's so variable).
I must stop here for the moment and go to work but I'll continue this clumsy intro later with a few thoughts on Salvia
divinorium. Meanwhile, if anybody wants to jump in or launch a new aspect, then please, please do.

well shame that these experiences cannot be shared over distance like we have come to commuinicate these days. or should I say not yet? but then again it wouldn't be naturally occuring ...?
