i for one couldn't really care about tetsuya nomura, cause i think that just because he made the character designs for FF7 he shouldn't be automatically placed into the helm of every important square-enix franchise. i'm sorta getting tired of seeing androginous main characters, weird haircuts and uninspiring cinematics
where's the old school greatness? remember when in final fantasy 3 you had to wait until the 10th second on the floating continent just to get Shadow to survive the end of the world?
or one of the final four bosses on final fantasy 2 (IV in japan) that actually replenished your hp and mp before the fight as a way of fair play?

I am kinda of out of the loop when it comes to the last several games. I've played everyone up until 9. I just couldn't get into it, and for some reason 10 didn't look interesting. I loved 7 and 8 though. I'm still confused why no one likes 8, it is my favorite. The storyline was very well written, the graphics still very decent even today, and the music is the best. Of course, this is only my opinion, I just think it's an awesome game. I am looking very much toward playing 13, I am definitely buying a PS3 for that, no matter how expensive it is.

Does anyone else have an opinion regarding 12? I'm considering picking up a new PS2 to play it on, but only if it's worth it.

That would be the best thing to do, but 129 vs. 599 is what I'm looking at right now. Man I really hope the PS3 price comes down.

ps3 is the better investment.
ff12 is good, certainly, but not good enough to purchase a ps2 for. wait if you have to.

final fantasy 8 is awesome, because it had the most cohesive story of all, although in terms of a bad guy, you can say that ff7, 8 and 9 really sorta suck, cause even though the bad guys look "cool" they were barely noticeable or even made your life hard during the game
ppl who hate ff8 were just too dumb/bored to understand the junction system, which for once did affect the story in some way
ff12 is just insane, I mean with all the crazy hidden stuff you got in there and the bosses... it's just insane

Ok so I beat Final Fantasy VI advance but the added dungeons haven't really interested me yet. I think I need to sit down again and really get into it.

So hey, Final Fantasy 12. I miss turn-based but the new combat system works OK and is interesting. Some other bits that I don't like but overall I do enjoy the game.
And am I the only one who feels out of the loop in regards to the story? It's like a whole lotta shit's going down but it doesn't seem to concern my characters much. It's what it feels like, anyway.

the story on final fantasy 12 has a lot of subplots, but in facts it's all politics and boring names of people who died or just don't have much to do with the player, which i think sucks bigtime
final fantasy tactics had much of that, but at least you felt like the story revolved around your team and not like your team belonged to someone else's story
and as for the gameplay, it would've been just the same to me to stay at a place and wait in real time, because when you think about it, all you really could do was walk while seeing the monsters! it wasn't real time like KH so even though you could walk your ass off anywhere you still had to wait for the damn ATB to kick in so you could hit the bad guys

Im all about the FFVI. I was lovin FFIII for DS but i lost interest when it got to the point where i had to grind levels to get my jobs up.
I have a feeling the new FF for DS and hopefully the one for Wii will rock my world.

for real, I never got to beat the ruby or (can't name it) weapons, cause they were just too difficult and I didn't get the final attack materia (i did get the gold chocobo though), but like a month ago i grabbed the game with just the chars on the final save and beat it to hear the ending music
it's just something about it... can't describe it but even with the bad graphics, utterly stupid materia leveling system and crazy useless chars i can't stop loving it
