I wonder how many seasons they'll actually be able to make before the rest of the world loses interest.

Do they tone down the f**king language when he does programmes over there? He had a record number of F-words in a single programme here and his latest prog - which I saw the other night - is called Gordon Ramsey's F-Word. He certainly doesn't hold back, yes, and the food, yes, usually looks good. Unfortunately, he also kills animals on his shows here. He did a report on horse meat - from choosing the pony to the dining table (and got a lorry load of horse shit on the pavement outside his restaurant for his troubles) and the week after it was fois gras - with plenty of footage of geese being force fed through funnels - I can't watch.

Ohhh Nooo...didn't know that about the horse meat. Wow...
The censors have a REALLY good time with his show. They bleep out the F word...but you still know what he's saying.

I suspect that it won't be that long until it's the same way here. Of couse...we do have that ultra-conservative element of the population to keep us in line...you know...the ones that are FOB's (friends of Bush).

Further to my earlier comment about how many f words he uses, this was in today's paper after a row about another UK programme using the 'n' word (viewing figures in brackets).

Do you think he does it for the shock value...or does he just enjoy saying it?

I think it's just the way he speaks - probably doesn't register as a 'shocking' word - don't think many people are shocked by that now anyway.
Which, actually, I feel is a shame.
I don't feel offended - it's sadly the norm these days.

I agree...it IS sad that people today don't think anything about the manner in which they speak. I always tend to think a person is just lazy if that is the only word they can think to use.
That said...in the heat of anger...I've been known to let the "f-bomb" fly myself.

Oh I do it all the time when I'm driving! There are people on the roads who just shouldn't be.
I also find I swear more if people around me are swearing - possibly subconsciously to fit in, who knows? - but I do work with a lot of young people so for them it's not even considered - though I do wonder if they swear around their parents who must be the same age as me. Probably, is the answer.
I would NEVER swear in front of my parents, they are from a totally different generation and it would feel so wrong...

Yes, driving is definitely one of those times when that's about the only word that will work. hahaha!
I don't swear in front of my parent either...but there was that one time when...just to see what my mom would do...I let loose with "f#@k, f#@k, f#@k! She blushed and grinned and just shook her head.

Sounds like standard practice in quite a few places - you just don't get to see it! A very good reason never to complain in a restaurant too.
