Yes, my job stinks, especially today after being off yesterday for a bank holiday (is that also a US concept of just the UK?) - Whatever - it was a public holiday so a nice long weekend.

I work in admin which is pretty boring at the best of times but today has just dragged and I'm now on my lunchhour, thank god.

I work as a temp, having quit my permanent job in March last year. Then, I was an office manager, in charge of quite a few people but had started to feel taken for granted by the management - it was a small firm and they were looking to make their lives easier and to head out into the sun - consequently, they had lost interest in the staff and the last straw came when, despite a good year profit-wise, we didn't get our usual Xmas bonus. Nothing was said, none of the usual thanks for a good year and we could all see the writing on the wall - the way they were out to make as much as posible for least possible input on their behalf.

I struggled with my feelings of resentment for a good 3 months before finally deciding that enough was enough, and handing in my notice. It didn't help that I was going through quite a bit of stress regarding my mother's health at that time and I just didn't want the added worry. It was a huge step to finally leave and at that point I didn't have another job to go to so I signed with an employment agency, but felt like a huge burden off my shoulders - a sort of freedom to choose.

I was out of work for one week only - that time was spent searching sits vacant and so on, but I got a temp job with the fire service, dealing with calls about their properties and stations and stayed there for 2 months. Then, I worked for Bentley's (the luxury car company) as a process advisor / admin / technical coordinator for 4 months. Finally (to date), I'm here, working for a company that provides oxygen for patients in their own homes or on holiday or respite. It's just data inputting 90% of the time but no stress! Just very boring!

I still hate it - and am now in a different dept, having heard last Thursday that there may be some staff changes - was merrily typing away when this e-mail popped up on Friday afternoon...

All,

Apologies for the short notice but A_ will be leaving the Records team as of next Monday 4/6/07 and will be joining the H_F team. I'd personally like to pass on my thanks to A_ for all her hard work and despite her only moving a few desks away I know that she'll be missed.

As of Monday a new member of staff - T_ R_ - will be joining Records to back-fill for A_. (*name hidden here by me)

As usual please make T_ feel welcome.

Again apologies for the short notice.

Thanks

Dave.

So, no final 'this is what's happening' etc from my boss, I don't even have a definite desk in the new dept, and noone seems to have a clue what's happening or what I'm supposed to be doing. Plus, they all think I knew and was keeping them in the dark so a bit of resentment I feel now.

Oh well, same old, same old...
