Another in process illustration Im working on for my show at the end of this month in conjunction with The C.S. Lewis Festival.

Which is actually an updated version of the below illustration i did for last year's festival for a coloring contest we put on

Any input would be great.
Cheers

I like the composition and placement of the people.
I enjoy the previous version a bit more. It seems like
the lion's hair is more flowing. But I do like how the
darks go into the people. Just curious, how big of
a piece is it?

it will hopefully be around 13 in x 19in. it will be inked up and then given some subtle flat colorings in Photoshop and maybe a little bit of texture.
I'm looking through alot of Mike Mignola as inspiration for this piece.

are you going to apply the same style of treatment you did to the other C.S. Lewis piece?
posted Oct 23
M says:
nope, im keeping this in this style. i'm kind of all over the place with style and techniques so i'm trying to show that with a few differnt examples for my upcoming show starting on saturday.

there was a nice attention to depth and space in the other C.S. work, that I am sad isn't this one. I also think this one looks some-what commercial, where the others looked more like influenced fine art. It would be cool to be able to see these together on the wall.
Just initial responses. Glad to hear you are pushing yourself to keep redefining your work and styles. Sign of a mature artist. Stay Creative.

The area the gallery thats going to be showing this is a bit of a cultural bubble so im doing everything to make them uncomfortable with style and content. no sunsets or lighthouses here.
i was just trying to see if i could pull off a mike mignola type feel to this one. i may play with texture if i have time but rightnow im not sure if i'll have time.
