I was a reluctant fan of Veronica Mars, and refused to watch it until almost the end of the first season (I didn't appreciate the constant comparisons to Buffy) -- but it is now one of my favorite shows of all time, and if it doesn't get renewed for a fourth season, someone is dying.
A few thoughts on the latest episode:
MUCH better than last week's. Last week's was fine -- Veronica Mars is almost never bad -- but it lacked the clever twists and subtle touches I expect.
Nicest touch? Paul Rudd's character donning a "Working Class Hero" t-shirt only minutes after his argument with Keith about the Beatles. Took me a minute to even realize the significance.
In general, I was very happy with Rudd's guest spot. He's been a favorite of mine for a long time (Clueless, Anchorman, 40-Year-Old Virgin -- the man usually chooses terrific movies), and we can now add his name to a list of cool VM guest starts (Hannigan, Whedon, Carpenter -- who am I missing?).
Fun episode. This non-arc format might just work out.
