Hello Phono-Field-Recordists!
The Soundmap of Cologne (SoC) is still carrying out the rmxCGN compilation (deadline will be August 31/08).
If you are into remixing our recordings we made in the city of Cologne, feel free to use our stuff and produce a composition. The compilation will be titled rmxCGN and released on the rec72 netlabel. Remember: All audio-files from SoC are licenced under Creative Commons Share-alike (by-nc-sa de 2.0) which means that all new tracks have to be licenced alike!
You can get all details of rmxCGN at: http://soundmap.akustikfilm.com/?page_id=35.
Thanks for your contribution!

actually it was marcus who suggested the separate artist page but i agree its the most straight forward way of starting it off and allowing it to grow. marcus has suggested an interest in it becoming a potential release for his netlabel konkretourist, which we can discuss once the project gets of the ground.
okay i make the page up i suggested we call it something else as i think 'chinese whispers' sould be a different project involving remixing other peoples field recordings of remixes of field recordings if that makes sense. any ideas on a name for this current project could be just 'audio tag'. i need a title to start up the artist page. or we could have an artist page that is just called field recordings projects and each album is a different project, so they are all together, in one page. what do you think recordists?

'audio tag' sounds o.k and 'field recording projects' would be perfect as the artist page name.
I agree that having it all on one page and having different titles for the individual projects would be the best way. Visitors to that single page can see what has happened, happening and also if they feel they want to join in any future projects.
Also i think it should definitely be considered for a release of some sort.
Any chance of a link to the net label site?

Just a thought, is there any reason why we couldn't do both the 'audio tag' and the 'Chinese whispers' projects at the same time? I don't know what everyone's schedule is like but i think we could squeeze it in? It is a great idea and i would be quite keen to start on that at the same time. yes?

okay i set that up then, having a project page means the titles of each project can change as it develops leaving it quite free. yes its less awkward this way. the only danger of having everything on one artist page is that it kind of makes this group redundant/less active, which would be a shame. as for two projects on the go..sure the more the merrier, i dont think waiting for a project to end then starting a new one is a productive use of time as i can forsee each project being quite long term.

Chinese Whispers:

I think between 1-3mins should be fine. The opening of another account/artist page that we share, was the only idea i have been able to come up with, and it would indeed keep this page clutter free, i think that is as good idea Matt.
Photos would be a great addition too.
Yes go for it.

Maybe put the rules on the artist page so it is all clear for everyone, I very much like the tag idea.
Lets really push the standards on this one, make it the best recordings we can in terms of creativity.

hello again,
does anyone have any good ideas as to how we can get the recordings from this chinese whispers game up on virb, so everyone can listen in on the project and contribute. the obvious answer would be to set up an artists page for the project, which we can all sign up to and add the tracks accordingly. also it saves this page getting cluttered with information and confirms who is interested in playing this little game. we could load photographs of the various locations up to to the page as well which could be interesting. im happy to set this up to start it off..or does anyone else have an other ideas??
one other thing i guess we should come up with some simple rules ie track length (should it be strictly 3mins or anything between 1-3mins) you comments and ideas are very much welcomed.

more like an audio tag game then, okay i guess i have the easy bit, ie having to start the game off. is there a way to post these recordings to this group page so everyone can listen to the project as it develops, i have a new mic arriving this coming week so i make a new recording especially for this game, i will randomly choose a location with a dart and a map to make things fair. are we still sticking with the alphabetical order that derren suggested? or should we pass it to whoever is to the right of your profile image in the recordist/members section.
