Here's another interesting news item:
Dutch researchers are trying to grow pork meat in a laboratory with the goal of feeding millions without the need to raise and slaughter animals.
I'm proud to say that I have perfected a way of catching mice. First, when I spot them on my kitchen counter (their favorite hangout), I use whatever cereal boxes I have handy to block their access to the stovetop. Then, I move the recyclables bins below whatever points they seem likeliest to attempt a dive from. Then, I equip myself with an oven mitt (yes, these get tossed in the laundry afterwards), grab the cute little bastard as gently as possible, and throw it in my bathtub. Finally, I usher it into an empty pickle jar, walk it three blocks south, and set it free in a neighbor's yard. Aren't I resourceful?

Did you guys hear about this? U.S. stops breeding chimps for research "The U.S. National Institutes of Health, which supports a variety of biomedical studies using animals, will stop breeding government-owned chimpanzees for research -- a step animal rights advocates lauded on Thursday..." Long way to go but a step in the right direction!
