Gotta hang in there then. :))) oh well.

I am very happy my friend showed me virb ^.^
it's so code and designer friendly and I hope it's not "hack-able" like *cough* m-space.

m-space = an open back door PC
virb = like a mac os
:? :)

Q the Physicist says:

how about some info somewhere as to limits on uploading: file size and number of songs in a playlist. I have looked all over and found nary a word as to file size maximum and only here (after 7 months of sporadic searching) i see a poster, a poster! (how does he know this anyway) complaining about the 15 song max. why can\t i just go to the faq and read about this? virb is great, except for one thing: too little info!!!!!

fix bug: 'we could not find a match' message when trying to delete tracks from virbtunes recently played tracks list

perhaps i deleted too many too fast..? but i have a page of tracks that i cannot delete from the list. for each i get a 'we could not find a match' instead of the track being deleted.

really... i just want to delete my virbtunes history - i tested it, didn't really like it, and got rid of it... but it remains on my profile [visible when viewed without customization]

Divit says:

Yes, when you click on the Remove Customization button at the top of any virb profile.. you will see the User's profile, and any module that has a entry inside it, whether it is groups/tags/playlist/ect... if it has ANY content inside of it it will be displayed when you click on the "Remove Customization" button at the top of any user's profile..

if you use Virb's advanced profile edit/raw css entry's
- the only thing you can do is

--take the "$VIRB_PlayerPersonal(Black)" out of the "html layout" entry box

--- move it to the "unused modules" entry box, below the "html layout" entry box..

that will remove the module from your web virb profile.. but when you hit the Remove customization button at the top Virb bar.. this will place any module that has content inside it back onto your profile..

You can also try deleting every song on your playlist to remove it completely.. an if they do not disappear after you deleted all the entrys.. hit the refresh/reload button on your browser.. sometimes history in your browser will post as is.. refreshing it will cue another copy of the website address to load..

*-If you use the Basic layout Virb profile editor-*
- click on "Customization"

-- once inside your profile edit section click on "Basic Layout"

--- you will see several modules, find the module called "Personal Player" an click on the "disable" link
this will remove your personal player from your web profile

annihilation [floating upon little pink pills] says:

the modules i'm refering to are the

virbTunesRecentSongs
virbTunesTopArtists
virbTunesTopSongs
virbTunesTopAlbums

as well as the virbtunes data contained within music - virbtunes stats... not the personal player. [you will note that my profile is customized already to have removed all modules]

on the virbtunes stats page you are given the option to delete recently played tracks... however when i try to i get the message 'we could not find a match' and the track remains...

anyways.. i will expand my suggestion to:

add a way of clearing your virbtunes stats [recently played as well as top songs/artists/albums]

Divit says:

oh i see now..

sorry about that then.. well i don't know how you can clear your useage history from Virb, considering thats they're information that they keep on users that log onto virb.. Cause each www.domain has the right to save/store every users information.. just to see what a user is doing on theyre site.. also makes it more secure.. someone attempts to break theyre adtrends or break theyre html values.. they will know... so that they know who logs onto they're domain.. it helps maintain a better working site.. alows the webmaster to post content of what everyone likes or what everyone is into... (evil media schemes)wanting to know what the consumer wants..

im afraid the most you could do is not allow anyone to see it on your profile.. other then that.. it would be up to virb to delete users' usage statistics activity...

sorry for misunderstanding there..

just email customer service about your playlist/virb tunes statistics are showing up on your profile, an you don't want no one to show it

Divit says:

you should email the web master of Virb, and ask them if they could allow certain active content sources.. in your Virb Help.. it says to email the customer service... to see if you can have source codes/active content installed on your webpage.. if its not from flickr/ anthr authorized source, virb automaticly cuts all the runtime out..

I don't really like rss feeds, I don't ever read them or keep subscriptions to any of them.. besides i wouldn't want my data/blog/ect being able to be posted off/linked to various web domain- i just don't think its very secure... and.. many people wouldn't know what it is or how to disable it..

Human Virus says:

I'd like RSS feeds too. Other networks have them and they are useful. For those concerned with security, there are also secure feeds. (Maybe they could have that as an option.)

15 Song Limit in Playlists?

Apologies in advance if this has already been covered (couldn't find a way to search this group for references), but is there a reason Virb limits the number of songs in a personal playlist to 15?

posted Nov 7

Chris says:

i don't mind the 15 so much, but 3 on the profile are too little. i'd like at least 5 there.

posted Nov 11

jtrentadams says:

Perhaps 15 songs is OK for a playlist, so maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of a "music library" or some other large candidate pool. I'd find the system more useful if I could keep all the songs I like, then pick out songs for various playlists as the mood strikes. Based on my use of other similar systems, it takes enough time keeping limited playlists "fresh" that I tend not to keep 'em up.

A helpful tool would be to have a "playlist discovery system" like the one being developed by MatchMine. That way the user could click a button and get a set of recommendations from which playlists could be created (manually or automatically). This would play well within the concept of VirbTunes (for feeding the music data as a basis for the discovered recommendations) as well as the Virb Transport Modules (for sharing the discoveries).

posted Nov 14

Chris says:

hmm, there are sites putting your whole iTunes lib online for streaming, and i agree with the larger "candidate pool". for the recommendations, i think this only will work when Virb gets really big. ilike.com does exactly this and i use it for that purpose. if ilike and virb would collaborate this would be nice...
