Did you leave yours open on purpose to make a point?

Joe says:

yes... :P

Joe says:

why??? 'b' and 'strong' are conceptually different.
The former is just a formatting tag, while the latter carries semantic weight

posted Jul 24

Fyorl says:

The B tag isn't really valid XHTML as it is purely a formatting tag whereas the STRONG tag is structurally important as it specifies an area of text where strong emphasis to be applied. The STRONG tag doesn't necessarily have to make text bold - it's just that most browsers interpret it as such.

Seeing as we're moving away from HTML and into XHTML it makes more sense to get rid of the B tag as it will soon be deprecated anyway (if it's not already - which I think it may be).

But anyway, auto-closing of any open tags should really be implemented.

Damn, you got there before me ;)
Similar with the EM tag instead of the I tag.

Joe says:

you do realize that changing tags is a very bad idea on sites like this that allow css customization right?
many people might specify certain properties for one of the tags and not for the other causing much confusion when they asked for a 'B' tag and got a 'strong' one.
perhaps in a perfect world where everybody knew everything about web design, but i wouldn't go as far as offering it as a suggestion.

they do auto close the open tags, but they do not do it the right way.
[keep an open tag on a post and after submitting it if you try to edit it, it will auto close.]

How are we doing with Virb?

Not sure how much you crew guys can really disclose about this subject but anything that can be said would be interesting to know in my opinion. I'm wondering how well Virb is doing when it comes to its growth!

I still think Virb is BY FAR the best community on the web. MySpace is retarded, Facebook is cool in terms of functionality but bores the hell out of me with everything looking the same. Everything else isn't even worth mentioning in my opinion. So... Virb it is! Go go go Virb! I really hope it's gonna be more widespread in the future. Right now it sometimes seems to me like it's a bit of a niche community for people with good taste. The kind thats unfortunately kinda rare in this world. Is it going to become more than just that? Or is it already?

Anything that can be revealed about this is welcome!

Keep it up guys, this site still rocks my social networking world. Big time!

I quite like having a niche community with good taste. It would be nice if more people got to see what real social networking's about though.

Much agreed.

Marco says:

I don't necessarily mind the niche either but it will have to be big enough to survive in the long run I think. Which made me ask the original question :)

I often wonder if the real genius in virb is the smaller community.

yes. i do love the features and the aesthetics soooooo much but that just attracts cool people who know what the hell is up.

I think there should be a group activity list much like the friend activity list.

your home->comments->groups
if you read the post 4 down, you would already know this

Dan says:

Please can we have albums or sets (or something similar) for the photographs and video (and groups for that matter) sections of user profiles. It's quite annoying having to wait for all of the thumbnails to load when you are trying to find a specific picture for example, and a user has hundreds of photographs that they have uploaded.

Dan says:

I think it would be excellent if the 'Fast Friend Finder' (which don't get me wrong is great in itself) would work like the spotlight feature of Mac OS X, and would not only search for friends, but for photographs, videos, blog posts, and groups, and display a 'top hit'.

Dan says:

Sorry I forgot to add, make it customizable also. So a user could exclude videos from showing up in the search for example.

posted Jul 21

Joe says:

if that was to happen, it should include a drop down list to specify what you are searching for and call it 'fast finder'.
no customization

Right, even though as of yet these have not been numerous in amount, I feel that it needs nipping in the bud before it becomes the next big thing. I have had enough of unconstructive comment replies that serve no purpose except to vent some personal issue you may have against people who maybe prefer to use capitals for example, or slightly misspell words (quite possibly by mistake, gosh!). Any such wholly irrelevant comments may just find themselves deleted.

Basically, if it isn't completely illegible, then get over it. Take your grammar fetish elsewhere, it is getting tedious.

please don't just delete comments you disagree with.
if there are two points of view on a subject, people deserve to hear both sides.
thanks.

Me again...

For the VirbTunes thing, I have some bands that are on Virb but when I listen to them, they are not underlined, probably because their name is not the same... like Justice whose virb account is "etjusticepourtous". Is there a way to help like suggesting a link to their account so you just have to (in)validate it?
