Help me!

we're here to help

Do you have a problem that you'd like to share? A problem shared is a problem halved, so they say. Advice can be hard to come by but this group may provide some answers. Let us know what's on your mind and we'll all get together and see if we can come up with some solutions. Relationships, sex, drugs rock&roll, problems with parents, problems with kids, school, work, etc - we're not experts but we may have been through it ourselves and can get you through it. Anything medical though, I would urge you to seek proper guidance through your doctor; this is more for moral dilemmas or day-to-day life problems.

If you know anyone who would like to help with the answers, please send them an invite - the more variety we have in members over age, sex, nationality and location the better.

If you want to pose a question anonymously, send me (moo) a message with the subject - 'question for Help me! group' - and the name you want it to appear under, and I'll copy and paste it as a new post with *****problem posed by X***** and let everyone give their opinions or advice. There may be some delay due to time differences and I can't promise to reply, but be assured that I will NEVER reveal your identity.

You are not alone - let us share our wisdom and experiences.

You really can't stop 5 month-olds from screaming blue murder when they feel like it (or at least, I never found a way). I walked around with a permanent S-shaped hip for months, even when mine weren't balanced on it. I would say to accept any help that's offered and even if it's just so you can catch a 20 minute nap, then do it. I seem to remember spending a year not being able to even go to the toilet on my own or knowing that the moment I thought I'd got them off to sleep or happy, then the phone would ring or the door would go, and you never had a moment to yourself. If it's any consolation - it does get easier eventually.
You need help though? - I'm addicted to this place and the laundry and dishes are also piling up... I know there's no advice for me out there, I'm beyond help!

Kids do that. I was depressed for so long and a needy child didn't help that at all. My only advice for you is to let the baby cry. It sucks so hard but you gotta do it sometimes. If you have one of those little swings, or a high chair, or walker, move it in front of the sink and put them in it while you wash the dishes, so they can still see you. Stuff like that. Or take them out for walks in the stroller...that always put mine to sleep...I would come back home and leave him in the stroller and do chores while they slept. Hope you find something.

And keep an eye on that depression. It can easily get the better of you. Take care, fu!

I never hold my little girl ever...and if i do its for like 5 minutes....and when she was an infant i wouldnt let people hold her that long cause I didnt want her to get used to that......but if i were you here is what i would

if your child is screaming like that...have you tried taking him to the dr maybe its a ear infection (i know your a mom just saying) maybe you should try and find a sitter for one whole day and clean up and get stuff done and take sometime to your self....sometimes this helps out alot...

thanks for the advice people. it's all very good. i'm doing better. the hardest part is that my two older kids have been on vacation for almost a month, and i hate to be all alone all day..just me and the baby. don't worry, i love my baby and am never upset with him...i do get upset with the situation though...i'm really frustrated with the lack of things getting done, but i need to just chill...this won't last forever. i'm going to try the advice androo and moo gave--sounds really practical (why didn't i think of that? haha) but there's no way i'm not going to hold my kids. i'm all over them and that's my fault that they don't want to be put down...but i'd rather deal with this than to never hold them....that would make me feel more depressed than a dirty house does, ;) he just had a checkup- no ear infection thank goodness, thanks for bringing that up though..and the sitter idea is a great one too...i just may do that. you guys rock and thanks for caring about a stranger! peace and sleep to you all! fu

Pollyanna says:

Im late getting in on this one but Here is what I did to train my child to go to sleep at night.
First i would put her in her bed and time her for 5 min of crying.(each minute felt like an hour)
Then I would go and tell her that I am still here and that she is okay and
next time go for 10 min. By then she was usually sleeping. She was sleeping at our bed time in around 1 week.
And what really helped me is that my mom told me that crying is good for her lungs. (who knows if that is true) Let me tell you. We were crying with her at first. Soon things came together and she slept all night. That was 8 years ago. And she is a happy child now.

I'm not sure if this is a problem, but I think I'm addicted to the internet. Is there such a thing?

moo says:

It can be a problem if you let it get in the way of real life. However, if you use it as a tool for gaining knowledge or keeping in touch with friends and are still able to function normally, then you shouldn't consider it a problem. I know I spend far too long on here but I still go to work, talk to my family and get things done - don't get as much sleep as I'd like, but as I'm on my own during the week that's my choice, then I think it's ok.
You CAN get addicted though - just look at the problems some people have with gaming etc - it's the same principle.

heshta says:

Thank you. I do have tendencies and need to keep them in check. =)

gaytheologian says:

most people are addicted to something. if being on the internet helps you to relax or think clearly, then it would be a coping mechanism, not an addiction. if your life would absolutely fall apart without it, you probably need a coping mechanism to deal with the addiction. just make sure you don't replace it with crack or something. if that were the case, we have quite a bit more "shrinking" to do...haha

moo says:

Not that at all - I see you as more like someone who would be able to give good advice! This is for anyone to either ask for help or to be able to give their views which might help - you are at the opposite age scale to me so we'd probably have different perspectives on the same problem, which is what I'm aiming for.
However, if you DO have a problem...auntie moo is here to help!
