Just started watching season four on DVD. Season five should be airing at the beginning of January. I posted some of my thoughts here, if you're interested.

Really interesting article in the New York Times about two people who were the basis for characters in The Wire and The Corner:

Today I got to see some of The Wire Season 5 being filmed. The set location was in Baltimore City (of course) under 83 on Guilford Ave across from the jail. I did not see any main characters but it was pretty cool to watch none the less. They had a TON of extras and I watched them shot the same basic scene over and over. Look for it in season 5, this is what happened.

White male in grey shirt, jeans, holding a notebook enters the center of the camera. He walks on the sidewalk and down the hill while a blue Oldsmobile turns into the parking lot across the street (yes, everytime they re-shot the scene the Olds had drive down the street and turn into the parking lot, it seemed like a lot to go through for something that was going on in the background of the scene). He walks down the train tracks where two people cross in front of him; the woman is in a white tank top and the man is in a green long-sleeve shirt and he is holding stick.

That's what I saw over and over and over. The scene was much longer but this is the only part I could see. The scene would continue down the slope and behind a wall and they would not let me any closer. I know this is really not much information but I thought I would share. You can see some pictures in my photo section, one of which is attached below. The pictures are nothing special, I had to sneak them all since I was told that no pictures were allowed until after shooting was completed.
