I'm new to surfing. Just a few trips to Sayulita Mexico and one to Santa Cruz... but as soon as I get a couple of seasons of snowboarding out of my system - I'm on my way to the ocean for an extended stay.

I'm currently living in Northern Ohio, but I've got to get out of town. I'm hoping to road trip somewhere on the atlantic coast, hopefully within about a day's drive. Any suggestions from anyone? I'd thought about WIlmington, NC. Anybody have any experiences there?

Boards
What I am riding presently:
KG 5' 5" Keel fin fish
Rat 5' 7" Noahs Ark
Channel Islands 6" 0" Baby Blue
Viper Fins-for when I am bodysurfing
This years wish list:
Stretch 6'0" Fletcher 4 fin
Stretch 6' 6" Pumpkin Seed 4 fin
Dale Solomon 4' Inflatable mat(think about Greenough)
Pavel 11' Ultraglide
Joe Bark 12' Paddleboard
Mike Stewart bodyboard, why? because he is badass and surfing is all about the glide. Whatever makes you happy is what you should be riding.

It doesn't matter what you ride. Just keep borrowing boards of all sizes and shapes. It will make you a better surfer all around.
Enjoy...

This quote came from Malakye.com ...sounds like a cool job if you like to surf... "This week's Industrial Profile is with Adam Wright, an experienced surf forecaster for both Wavewatch and SoCalSurf.com, and media planner and buyer for Ocean Media. Adam provides all the info you need to grasp the concept of surf forecasting, and describes how he got to where he's at today." Definitely check it out. It's an interesting read!
