Well on the 18th I'm getting a Guide inspired tattoo. Anyone care to guess what I'm getting?

We could make a game but I have no prizes..

Hints?

Is it something really really obvious like a 'DON'T PANIC' or something really obscure, like I should pore over the pages until I hit the one thing that makes me realize "This is the ONLY tattoo in the world anyone should get."? Or somewhere in between that? Which book is it located in? Is it an image or quotation?

Those aren't all yes or no, or I would make this a 20-questions thing, but we'll call it 4-questions. 4-questions has different rules where I can ask non-yes-or-no questions.

Tophe says:

Hmm, maybe one of these?

Chuck says:

Well its pretty obvious, Tophe guessed it, its one of those two things but I have a twist to it. I wont show what ive done until the 18th then ill post a picture for yall :)

you didn't include you 're-read' list though. a once-through reading is not satisfactory.

Chuck says:

Oh true, I re-read The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and got just into The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and also started to re-read Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency.

I am also just thinking of how awesome it is when Zaphod's grandfather is there, and he approves of the computer's tea-making venture, and nothing else.

And how one of these days, i'm going to get one of those towels that converts into a bag (in some not too garish design) and print the massively useful quote on it and take it with me everywhere under the sun.

I got to quote the guide the otherday at work, I forget the details but it was basically this

Me: "Hey ladies whats going on?"

Tina: Oh just doing 900 markdowns, its so fun!

Me: Oh thats cool, im happy you get to do that

Amanda: That was sarcasm I think *snicker*

Me: Oh, we don't have sarcasm where I'm from

Amanda: Where is that?

Me: Somewhere within the vicinity of Betelgeuse..

yeah, I'm pretty good.

yay. I've been quoting the 'none at all' transition from right at the beginning all the time lately (although not with any applicable circumstance. unlike you, I always seem to miss the applicable circumstances, except to occasionally remark that someone is so hip they can hardly see over their pelvis.) but, yeah. I think that transition is the greatest proof of Douglas Adams's brilliance ever. no one else would have thought to use Mr. Prosser's remark to transition into Ford's origins.. it's amazing.

I also found out about Liffs the other day, which was fairly exciting.

Vogon Poetry from the Vogon Poetry Generator.
See, see the base sky
Marvel at its big puce depths.
Tell me, Charlie do you
Wonder why the sloth ignores you?
Why its foobly stare
makes you feel bleary.
I can tell you, it is
Worried by your yorghuss facial growth
That looks like
A messy heap of crumbs.
What's more, it knows
Your funky potting shed
Smells of toad.
Everything under the big base sky
Asks why, why do you even bother?
You only charm cheeses.

Thats awesome! is that about me? because I work with a guy who's very sloth like and we don't get on very well..

Janie-In-Nautilus [take cover] says:

yes, well, one of the things you had to input in the generator was a name.. and I thought, 'who would appreciate this more than Charlie?'

That we do, that we do.

I work retail and had to work the day after Thanksgiving, just as they opened the doors and the rabid customers rushed in I simply said to myself, the most useful advice I have ever heard.

"Dont Panic"

Janie-In-Nautilus [take cover] says:

My word.. I definitely need to work that one in more.

The other day, I got essentially entirely fed up with Facebook, so I took down all my information, replaced my display picture with a picture of the Vogon ships hanging in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't, and filled in my profile with Hitchhiker's quotes. It's very interesting, seeing people's reactions.

Today, I've been saying this one a lot: "The first ten million were the worst. And the second ten million, they were the worst too. And the third ten million I didn't like at all. After that I sort of went into a decline." Marvin is my husband.

Chuck says:

is that a reference to The restaurant at the edge of the Universe?

Ive been seeing the number 42 alot, I know its not important but on the Office one guy guessed 42 for the number of jellybeans in a container, on heroes a very important character was rumored to be on the 42nd floor and of course on Lost one of the lottery numbers that whole episodes were based on was 42. Oh oh and during Marvels Civil War series Mr Fantastic was working on a program called "The Number 42"

I need a life.
