Okay, that episode was good. the beginning battle was worth it, but still, after waiting a half a year, i'm still having issues with the passion levels to get to where they are. (shaking fist for the long wait). Also, cylon prediction.. I'm guessing Zena, the warrior princess girl..(name escapes me at the moment). She would be a awesome cylon..

Also, is there any gossip about the possible segments or new show with Caprica? I would honestly love it if they did more with the Razor Flashbacks. Old school with new school twist.

Beck says:

So what's the thoughts on BSG: Razor? The flashbacks are pretty decent for the limited timeframe I thought. I liked all the retro models from the original series (raiders, baseships, & centurions), maybe just cuz I was around to watch the original series when it aired. Rather annoying that one has to either watch them mixed in w/ ads streaming on scifi.com or Tivo Flash Gordon.

There's a new exhibit at the Science Fiction Museum (where I volunteer) in the EMP in Seattle called "Out of This World" that features a lot of sci fi costumes and they have one of Apollo's flight suits on display. Seattle locals should definitely check it out, it's very detailed. Including a pre-flight checklist in the pocket!

My Fiance met a writer for the show. She was offered some season 4 storylines, but declined. There will be alot of Starbuck, however.

interesting considering she'll be splitting time between BSG and the new Bionic Woman for NBC.

I heard she would likely be a recurring character, prolly not in every episode though.

Sackhoff was originally only slated to be in the pilot, but has signed on as a recurring character at this point. I watched that preview and I thought it/Sackhoff sucked.

...and you suck. Seriously though, was she cool with being approached by a fan?

Yeah, she was very sweet. And the friend she was with was kind enough to offer to take the picture.

Nathan says:

Wow, well congrats man. Her hotness level is nearly always under estimated in favor of the lovely Mrs Helfer, but I've always thought she was right there with her. Good to know she cool with the fans too.

no bad, but no Roslin.. now that is a hotty.
joking aside, that is cool. it's nice to see people like that take time for their fans.

That's gotta be a fake....no one looks that good at an airport. :-)
But seriously, that's cool she was so approachable.

So, no new BSG until 2008, but does that mean January of 2008. Seems like most of the fan community started the 10 month countdown after the finale, but I don't remember seeing anything definitive about that date. Anyone seen anything floating around the rumor mill about the premier date?

I've heard there's some kind of T.V. movie in the works? I have zero clue if there's any validity in that rumor.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that. It was supposed to be dealing with the Pegasus in some way. That should be a nice little cookie to hold us over until the main course.

who knows. i'm dissappointed they didn't work on the new series during the last season, but then again, even actors need a break. better be one damn good episode when it airs, otherwise a few BSG fans might get turned off.

by the way, that new show, Drive, that is on fox, so good... oh wait, it got scrapped.. neveremind, thought i had a new show...

So, if Cheif is a cylon... and he has a baby. Will this create some sort of issue with Boomers child? Could it end up to be a pro-cylon (boomers kid) vs. pro-human (cheif's) kid at the end? Or will the series last that long to see them hit pre-teens? Will this effect the importance of the first hybrid?

Guess that is my biggest confusion if the people from last season are really indeed cylons, unless that was a curveball.

wiseacre | paul armstrong says:

From what I've heard, they aren't a "traditional" Cylon. My guess is they've been around far longer then even they know (perhaps from inhabitant of Earth thousands of years ago; fled Earth with some humans for whatever reason, and helped created new world). I don't see why Boomer and Chiefs baby will do much of any thing. I mean, even Roslin has Cylon blood in her, so she's technically a "hybrid" as well. I don't imagine they'll be telling anyone what they are (probably spending S4 figuring themselves out).

posted Apr 25

HYDRO74 says:

I could see that happening but don't know if I buy into. Just remembering back to other episodes where there was such a high price on both sides via boomer's kid. One episode was basically all about her getting her jungle fever on with a human, then they go into the whole part where they were building these hybrid making factories, which success was very rare.

there is a importance, at least there was a importance to the significance of the child, even commercials pushing that idea. now if the 'new' cylons also have kids, there either 1. has to be a role/reason for that, or 2. they will forget about it till they get acquired for another season, then have that is a new concept. I don't know. Just seems strange. In the case of Roslin, she wouldn't be considered cylon or hybrid or whatever. If you got a blood transfusion and the blood was from a African American donor, that doesn't mean I am now half black. DNA makes a person, and their roots from whatever race defines them.

Lastly, wasn't earth suppose to be pre-cylon. in one of the first seasons, or maybe it was the mini series, they suggested that it was only recently that they took the human form. It was at the time that the cylons created their own world and left their 'masters' If you want to play the earth card / new breed from earth (old cylons) I don't buy it. I would buy more the concept that they are the first 'clone/hybrid/whatever' models that were decommissioned due to they sympathy towards humans. Only a few escaped, ala the new members.

just food for thought.

Well, Tigh has been in the military and accounted for for at least 30 years -- so there has to be more to it than them just being human Cylons (Ronald Moore eluded to it in his podcast -- about them not being the sort of Cylons we've seen). I still don't see how Chief/Boomer kids cancel each other out -- or make Hera less important -- after all, Boomer, Six and Rosilin all had a dream about Hera in the season finale (so its a safe bet that they won't just leave that be). And no, I don't think Rosilin is truly a "hybrid", though there is something there -- again, the dream that all three of them shared; that they were shocked that Laura had had it too (seemed like it was a special message for Cylons that Laura someone intercepted).

I believe this will be the last season -- at least I hope it is ... it would play out pretty perfectly (given they're push for earth, the final 5, etc).

posted Apr 25

HYDRO74 says:

gotcha.
one idea i was chewing on is that there could be some sort of set up for a cylon civil war due to Boomer's kid and Cheif's. There has to be something to the reasoning for them to have a child, then cheif finds out he's indeed a cylon. And if they are truely different breeds of cylon, should make it more dynamic for a plot. The writers are too clever to let that go untouched.

I see your points on everything else, well debated :)
and you've just earned points in my world for saying you too hope it will be the last season. I love the show, but if it drags on... that would suck. Besides, i think it would be nice if they do move forward with the 'Caprica' series idea.

I personally think there going to do 5 seasons total. RDM hinted that we might see some stuff on Earth. Similar but not as cheesy as Galactica 1980.

Also, the four 'cylons' revealed in the season finale are probably going to end up being RDM's version of the 'ships of light' characters from the original.

HYDRO74 says:

my only thought with the ending is how they are going to finish that thought with the next season. are they going to pick up right at that battle? Galactica is pretty much being held together ducktape (not really..but) and it can't afford too many battles without something major happening. I would like to see a little hint of that because most of the time that the vipers are launched, Galatica gets some nice battle scars.

also, at first, i thought the song was a hint that they are closer to earth than the expect. why would they be hearing the song when it's a earth made creation and end up cylon.. quite confusing. Unless the cylon 'join the party' frequency was the same as earth radio waves, which could be interesting.

ya know... at this point, I'm pretty sure next season will be the last. And honestly, I think the show's come too far, and had WAY too much story for someone to catch up on verbally.

If I could make someone watch all of the mini, all of the aired episodes, all the resistance webisodes, and all before next years debut... I would.

But I think now, the ship has sailed, and it will be in a dvd boxed set marathon weekend type of thing, for my friends to join in...

is that too terribly pessimistic?

I'm in process of getting 2 or 3 interesting. I've already snagged 4 people to get into the show. I myself didn't start to watch till season 3, so I don't see anything as "too late". 1 solid season is worth watching; plus DVDs make a "season" somewhat meaningless I'm getting them into the show, not just getting them to watch on Sundays.

WaxPatriot says:

Same here, Paul.

My fellow coworkers have done a complete 180. There used to be a lot of ridicule for the show, with it being pinned as something only Dwight Schrute would watch. Now it's gone from me being the only one into it to 8 people total adoring the series. DVDs are for sure a must. If you don't own them, BUY THEM! The network pulls out vital revenue from the DVD sales, and the higher they are the bigger budget BSG will receive. That doesn't mean additional seasons, but it does mean the series will end with a BANG! Plus, the series is just so damn worth a 2nd, 3rd, 4th.......etc. viewing.

I managed to get a friend into the show last year after Season 2, and just recently lent out my Season 1 DVDs to a co-worker. Needless to say, both were impressed and now 100% on-board with it. Now, the hard part is holding my tongue about what just happened in Season 3...

i don't try to convert. It's the same as someone telling me 'Lost' is awesome, when i refuse to watch it because it looks retarded. Granted, i probably just offended someone one, but ...giant polar bears? if someone is interested, i'll point them the way and throw down my DVD's. Might wife might actually watch it, but then again, she did a '24' marathon and has nothing else to watch.

I've loaned my DVDs out to a few people. They seem to be into it but it is incredibly difficult to get people to digest 3 seasons of a series. I think we've crossed the threshold of being able to bring in significant new viewers. At this point, we should do what we can to make sure we don't lose any viewers.
